Tyson Fury’s WWE Victory May Have Raised His Marketability

By Paul Murphy-

Tyson Fury may have raised his marketability  after knocking out  Strowman for his WWE debut.

Fury gave away  nine stones to his opponent,  and was  initially floored by Strowman before he was able to launch assaults in the form of kicks, elbows and headbutts last week.

Fury’s response with a big right hand and a boot to the face, which eventually led to the knockout blow that destroyed Strowman secured Fury’s win against the odds. The victory means the Englishman may have added hundreds of thousands of WWE fans to his collection of hard core supporters, as he proved doubters wrong  who thought the fight may scupper his big February  date with Deontey Wilder. Instead Fury, who came out unscathed, is still on track for his fight with Wilder next year.

Fury is said yo have banked an estimated £12m for the short lived wrestling contest, not really considered a match for the brutality involved in 12 rounds of championship boxing. His decision to participate in the contest had been ridiculed as an opportunity for the boxer to avoid his long awaited rematch with American Wilder, but Fury has since revealed massive offers from Saudi Arabia to stage the big world title fight there. Saudi Arabia will be staging Anthony Joshua’s rematch against new world champion Andy Ruiz Jnr on December 7.

The unbeaten gypsy king is one of the most agile of heavyweights despite his huge size which fluctuates between 18 1/2 and 19 stone. His technical ability and quick movement makes his big size an asset presenting him a difficult opponent for any heavyweight in the world. His recovery from two knockdowns against Deontey Wilder  in December 2018 shows just how difficult it will be to beat him. Wilder will need to be punching hiss very hardest to put Fury down and keep him down now that Fury knows he can recover from Wilder’s biggest hit.

Fury will watch Wilder attempt to defend his WBC belt on the 23rd of this fight against  in  a fight the American is expected to win by bookmakers, but which may  scupper Fury’s February chance if the very tough Ortiz pulls off the surprise which would require and immediate rematch.
