The social media giant is working on establishing a new subscription feature that enable users to follow a thread without signalling any interest or participating in the conversation themselves. Instead, the new feature will allow users to just click a button to receive notifications when new tweets were added to that conversation.
Twitter’s planned new mechanism is a fresh way of tracking tweets and conversation, too. This week, the social media company released its experimental beta testing app, Twttr, allowing for testing of the new Twitter features. Twitter is currently exploring a way to hide unwanted replies, and to preview user profiles without leaving user’s timeline. Innovation has always come with twitter’s features, but it is yet to discover a way to control internet trolls and also identify or register owner’s of twitter accounts.
The vast majority of twitter users want to use it for meaningful conversations, but the brains behind twitter are still a long way from being able to immediately detect users whose involvement on its platform are a source of misery for others. Establishing a way to identify nuisance and obstructive users is a necessary goal for the talented minds that continue to explore new features to improve the fun and engagement of the globally used social media platform.
They know the need to be able to track down malicious users on twitter is an ideal aim, but they are yet to discover how. They may be secretly working on it; nothing is beyond the realms of possibility with these inventors. Creating a safer and accountable environment is the ultimate challenge for the social media giants, but in the face of these huge task, they are focusing their energy on creative mechanisms for making the social media platform more enjoyable for responsible users. Twitter is also testing an “original tweeter” label, which will show which account started a thread. At SXSW, Twitter revealed a new camera for the app, which will make it easier to share photos and videos.
