Travis Spencer Murder: Two Charged Including 16 Year Old

By James Simons

Two males, including a 16-year-old boy, have been charged with murder in connection with the death of young Travis Spencer-Aitkens in Ipswich.

The 17-year-old   teenager described  by his mother as a ”well mannered  and polite boy” ‘teenage died in hospital after being stabbed as he walked away from a parade of shops on Saturday afternoon. A total number of eight people have been arrested as part of the murder probe by Suffolk Constabulary. The teenage suspect of no fixed abode and co-defendant Aristote Yenge, 22, from Colchester, will appear at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, each charged with murder, the force said. The cause of the attack is unknown, but police said, Tavis had been returning from shops in Queen’s Way when he was attacked by two assailants riding bicycles.

The assailants were immediately joined by four to five other males who further assaulted him, before they fled.  Tragic was Tavis was found injured in Packard Avenue and was rushed to Ipswich Hospital for treatment where he later died. Judging from the nature of the attack, the group clearly had a serious issue with the murdered boy. That serious issue will be part of the police investigation, but police investigations into murder cases do not always get to discover the actual cause of a killing because people are often reluctant to give the factual details of all the background to their grievance with the murder victim. Worryingly, Tarvis describes himself on his facebook page as a ”full time gangster”. He could have meant it light heartedly, but it doesn’t read well.

Murder investigations involve plenty of digging and detective expertise, but do not always disclose everything they know, especially if the victim was involved in any illegal activity related to his or her killing. Some murder victims are killed because of wrong associations, even the nicest of teenagers often keep wrong company with people they are familiar with either from school or their neighbourhood. Teenage development for young people in the UK and the U.S is one of the most testing periods of a male’s life experience.

Yesterday,Wednesday, police arrested a further two people- a 17-year-old boy in Stowmarket and a 23-year-old man in Ipswich, on suspicion of conspiracy to murder. Another three men aged 41, 20 and 18 were also arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder have been released on bail until July 4. A 36-year-old woman from Essex arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of assisting an offender was released under investigation after being questioned.

Police have remained in the area to reassure the public and detectives are continuing to seek information from the public, especially from anyone with CCTV, dash cams, or mobile phone footage from the area that afternoon and evening. The cowards who perpetrated this crime need to be caught, there can be no excuse for such an evil act.
