The FBI has launched a review over its handling of a warning about the teenager accused of carrying out Wednesday’s school shooting in Florida.
19 year old Nikolas Cruz, 19 appeared in court charged with premeditated murder. Cruz killed 17 people in what the deadliest US school shooting since 2012.
Mr Cruz had previously commented on a YouTube post last year that he would be a “professional school shooter”.
The FBI admitted that a user had alerted authorities to the post.
Authorities were immediately alerted and teachers were warned about the threat Mr Cruz posed to the school. He was not allowed on campus with a backpack.
Although the FBI investigated the YouTube comment , they were unable to identify the person who posted the video.
The attack happened at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Three of the fourteen people wounded are in a critical condition.
On Thursday, Mr Cruz confessed to investigators carrying out the shooting, and said he had a backpack full of ammunition.
It was a callous act carried out by an individual with no morals or ounce of humanity. The one thing that must be learn t from this awful mass killing is the lessons made by the FBI, given their broad area of investigative expertise
