WBC heavyweight champion, Deontey Wilder took his pre-fight press conference to another level when he suggested his opponent may die from his knock out punch.The unbeaten American takes on mandatory challenger Dominic Breazeale on Saturday, May 18 at the Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, live on Showtime Championship Boxing. And the American, still undefeated went below the belt as he sent a serious threat to his opponent that he may die in the ring when the unbeaten champ is done with him. The unbeaten champ in 41 fights,(39Ko’s) said Breazeale may not wake up after he knocks him out.
In a scary show of deep anger for his rival, Wilder promised to destroy Breazeale when the pair meet in the ring to settle their deep grudge match. Brezeale knows he has to train really hard for this fight if he is to have any chance of victory. The fight will be open to everyone because it will not be pay per view.
Showtime’s Stephen Espinoza explained to the crowded media that it was critical for Deontay that this fight be available, not on PPV, but on Showtime.
“This is where a world heavyweight championship belongs, on Showtime, not on a streaming platform with a limited audience and limited viewership.
“He’s made a decision that demonstrates his loyalty and a decision that guarantees financial success for a long, long time.” The atmosphere then became very intense with venomous words uttered by Wilder who showed an extreme hatred for Breazeale
Wilder became very deep and personal with Brezeale . he said:
“I hold the keys in the division,” . “I will knock this fool out. He may not even wake up. There a’int no hoping or wishing, I expect them to make some funeral arrangements because he may not wake up. It’s gonna be crazy. I am going to be the judge of the ring.I can’t wait to see when I hit this guy on the chin
DISRESPECT
Brezeale began to explain that Wilder disrespected him when he was with his wife and his kids, once referring to Wilder’s brother as ”his punk ass brother”. Every rime Breazeale spoke, Wilder could be heard angrily interfering in the background. Brezeale said : ”he has no traditional skills, nobody wants to watch this chum fight, he loves the sound of his own voice. All he does is talk”… to which Wilder said: ”he doesn’t even sound convincing, he needs to put some base on his voice.
The tension and animosity between to the two heavyweights was so tense it was scary. Wilder said : ”this is the scariest fight you have ever been in, believe me.
