Prince Harry faces growing pressure to give up his royal titles as a petition calling on the Duke has hit nearly 60,000 signatures.
The petition launched two weeks ago by Royal author Lady Colin Campbell urging the Duke of Sussex – who has quit royal duties for a new life in America with Meghan Markle – to voluntarily give up his titles. And by 9pm on Friday, it had been signed by 57,000 people, but that’s still .01% of the British population of 60 million.
It’s a relatively small fraction, but not fully reflective of the many more who may not have bothered to sign the petition. It’s many in actual number, but not as much as it seems. Its gives an idea of the number of people angry with the couple, and influenced by the anger expressed by other figures iin society.
The petition follows a number of far reaching comments made by Prince Harry in reaction to treatment at the palace which he says affected his mental health issues.
Prince Harry said he intended to break the genetic pain which he said was passed down to his father, Prince Charles, by his parents. His words were taken to be a direct attack on the Queen and her late husband Prince Phillip.
He was talking in relation to the inaction for the royal family to prevent the press from over-stepping their mark, something known to be outside the tradition of the royal family. Harry went further to reveal hard feelings, describing his brother Prince William, and his father Prince Charles, as being trapped in the royal family.
There is also anger from those who have strong alliances with Piers Morgan- the high ratings but controversial former television presenter, who lost his job over complaints from Meghan Markle.
Piers Morgan openly said he did not believe a world of her account during the Oprah Winfrey interview, later attempting to justify his statement by making reference to alleged lies she had told in the interview.
Lies And Image
Telling lies or bending the truth is never good for public image, but it was his dismissal of her claims of mental health that nearly drove her to suicide, on top of being refused help, that cost him his job when he refused to apologise. Popular Morgan who Itv admitted was irreplaceable due to his high ratings, has continued to attack Meghan Markle openly, in some cases raising issues that have some logical appeal.
Many of his criticisms have influenced man sections of the public since Morgan pushes an energy of battle with him in the media conflict with the Duke and Duchess Of Sussex.
He recentlycriticised Meghan Markle’s decision to write a book about father’s and sons in reference to Prince Harry and Archie. But Meghan rendered the plan hypocritical because she does not talk to her father, and he hasn’t seen his grandson, Archie. He then attacked her decision to name their daughter after the Queen’s nickname , making them appear to be playing a double standard.
Many wills see him as having a strong point in some of his complaints, even where others can find flaws with them. Morgan is putting up a fight, but how Prince Harry and Meghan Markle won’t fight back directly, they may raise the gear of their actions which could cause things to spiral out of control further, depending on how their minds work.
Abeyance
The petition by Lady Campbell calls on the Queen’s grandson to put his royal titles into abeyance. Ms Campbell is a known critic of both the Duke and Duchess Of Sussex, and is believed to have strong links with the royal family.
She insists that if the couple relinquish their titles, would free him from the “diplomatic, political and constitutional constraints that are an inevitable part of royal rank”.
Abeyance
The petition says: “The purpose is to invite Prince Harry to voluntarily ask the Queen to put his royal style, titles and rank into abeyance, thereby freeing him from the diplomatic, political and constitutional constraints that are an inevitable part of royal rank, and further freeing him from the constitutional conflicts which his beliefs are creating, with all their implications at home and abroad, in particular in the United Kingdom and the United States of America, where his articulated beliefs are in open conflict with the accepted tenets of both the United Kingdom and American constitutions.
“As a purely private citizen, with no royal rank, style or title, he will be able to indulge his personal beliefs, as is the right of all private citizens, without the consequential possibility of damaging the institution of the monarchy or relations between friendly powers, and will be free to articulate beliefs, no matter how objectionable, without the fallout that is otherwise inevitable as long as he possesses royal status.
“I think it’s a humane way of solving a very regrettable situation.”
There is anger that Prince Harry and Meghan who had agreed to stop using their titles when they decided to give up royal duties, have continued to use their Duke and Duchess of Sussex titles to build their brand, while continuing to discredit their family openly.
Some observers like mental health analysts Deon Verhoven, says: ”the couple will want to hold unto whatever titles they believe is their entitlement because there public anger expressed against the royal family is an expressing of their wound. It’s their mental health expressing itself by force.
Their are some serious issues that were testing their mental health while at the place, and the fact they could get no answers is what has led to this whole inferno.
They admit to have suffered mental health problems, and such problems are not always static, they can get worse, depending on how they respond to circumstances around them. Anger, bitterness, when added to sorrow, can make up unthinkable level of mental health, easily masked at the time to fit in”.
