West Yorkshire Police Launch National Manhunt To Find Suspicious Killer Of Wife

By Lucy Caulkett–

West Yorkshire Police  have launched a national manhunt to help find the husband of a woman who was killed in Leeds last night.

The  manhunt for Mark Barrott, 54, (pictured)who was seen leaving Leeds railway station for Scotland at around 1pm yesterday has gone nation wide, in the police race to catch another brutal domestic killer.

Barrot’s wife Eileen Barrott, 50, died at a home in the Whinmoor area of the city after suffering serious injuries.

A murder probe has been opened after police were called shortly after 6.30pm yesterday, Yorkshire Live reports. Barrott is the number one suspect for this murder, given the suspicious circumstances of his own disappearance.

Today West Yorkshire Police released CCTV of Mr Barrott at Leeds station, from where he took a train to Edinburgh Waverley, arriving at around 4pm. His eventual destination is unknown, but cops believe he is being shielded somewhere, either by people who may or not know what he has done.

Barrott could be galavanting from one place to another, in his desperate fight of survival to escape police detection.

Officers are also appealing to trace Mr Barrott’s car – a silver Toyota Avensis, registration FJ51 ZHB –  still believed to be in Leeds.

Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Vanessa Rolfe said: “We urgently need to speak to Mark Barrott in connection with the investigation, and we are keen to hear from anyone who has seen him or who has any information that could assist in tracing him.

“He was last known to be at Edinburgh Waverley station at 4pm yesterday and we would like hear from anyone who saw him then or since, or who can assist in establishing his current whereabouts.

“We would advise members of the public not to approach him but to contact the police immediately via 999 if they do see him.”

Although formal identification has yet to take place, police today released Mrs Barrott’s name in the appeal to trace her husband.
