Wakefield Police Release CCTV Image Of Car Connected To Hate Crime

Wakefied Police have released a CCTV image of a car and driver in connection with a hate crime in Wakefield.

The incident happened on 2 October at around 3.30pm outside a convenience store at the junction of Eastmoor Road with Stanley Road.

It occurred after the  30 year old victim  and children were subjected to racial abuse by a man in a car after her daughter dropped a piece of litter outside the store. Wakefield police are not releasing details of the incidence because it forms part of the investigation. Those familiar with the case say it was needless but escalated after an exchange of words between the offender and both the mother and of the children r litter dropped on the floor  which the alleged offender wanted to be picked up.

Officers would now like to trace the owner of the vehicle pictured in connection with the incident.Sergeant Zoe Kempa, of Wakefield Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We take all hate incidents extremely seriously and racist language will not be tolerated in Wakefield.

“This was an unprovoked verbal attack on a woman with her young child, and I would appeal for anyone with any information on this incident to get in contact with police.”
