Video Footage Emerges Of Birmingham Youths Fighting With Fireworks

By James Simons-

Footage of youths using fireworks to attack each other in the Eastside area of Birmingham City Centre has been circulated.

The video was filmed by Birmingham students who watched on in horror as fireworks exploded off trees and other objects near to their halls of residence in Eastside Park.

The very dangerous move was used during a confrontation between adversarial groups of youths in the area. There is nothing to suggest whether these were gangs or just feuding youths, but the effects of their dispute demonstrated through a fireworks battle was a bit like a scene of a violent film. Fireworks can been seen shooting between two groups.

Also depicted in the footage is the fireworks attached to sculptures in the park before being set alight . A man can also be seen holding a firework and shooting it towards people near to the Woodman Pub.One student, who witnessed the incident on the evening of November 2, said she was “terrified” and no longer feels safe near Birmingham City University.

This footage comes just days after a UK petition by 70,000 people to ban the sale of fireworks in shops was signed.
A total of 136 in Selly Oak, 101 in Yardley and 140 in Solihull have backed a petition calling for the ban on the government’s official e-petition’s website . A similar petition received over 168,000 signatures last year, but it was rejected for a parliamentary debate, with business minister Jo Johnson insisting the current regulations worked well.

Police rushed to the scene after eyewitnesses dialled 999 to report the alarming confrontation, but the youths had fled the scene by the time cops arrived there. Birmingham is notorious for gang activities, and has its fair share of a number of recorded murders. Confrontations like these have the tendency to quickly escalate without warning, into something more serious and potentially deadly. The exact cause of the confrontation is not known, Young people from Birmingham are advised to always choose their friends carefully, and not move in dubious and dangerous circles in order to avoid getting caught up in these types of confrontation or their future aftermath.
