A person has died after being hit by a Victoria line train at a central London Underground station.
British Transport Police was called to Green Park at 3.50pm following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
Paramedics and London’s Air Ambulance also attended and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
All lines between Liverpool Lime Street and St Helens Central were closed as police and rescue teams responded at the scene. A large emergency services presence was reported at the station, with Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS), British Transport Police, and paramedics attending.
The station was cordoned off by police while the incident was dealt with. In an update this morning, the British Transport Police said officers were called at around 7.05pm on November 7 to reports of a casualty on the tracks at Broad Green railway station.
Officers responded with paramedics but a man in his twenties was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
Traffic alert site Inrix reported the M62 eastbound lane was closed on the exit slip road due to the incident at A5080 Bowring Park Road (The Rocket).
A spokesperson for MFRS said: “Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service attended an incident at Broadgreen Railway Station on Bowring Park Road.
“Crews were alerted at 7.15pm following reports of a person being hit by a train. Two fire engines and the search and rescue team arrived on scene at 7.19pm
“Once on scene, crews provided lighting to assist British Transport Police.
“At 8.27pm the lighting was no longer required and fire crews left the scene.”

A London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 3.50pm today, November 25, to reports of a person hit by a train at Green Park Underground Station, W1J.
“We sent an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car, an incident response officer and our Hazardous Area Response Team to the scene.
“We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance.
“Sadly, a person died at the scene.”
