United Flight Passengers Stuck On Runway For 14 Hours

Passengers  who were on a New Jersey  flight that departed Newark airport on Saturday got stuck on a freezing Canadian runway for nearly 14 hours, according to reports.

The flight from Newark Liberty International Airport to Hong Kong got diverted to an airport in Newfoundland, Canada because of a medical emergency. The incident occurred after the 3:05 p.m. flight was diverted to Goose Bay Airport in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador due to a medical emergency. Passengers were left disgruntled and disappointed with each passing hour arriving with no change

The plane was set to continue its journey when a mechanical issue obstructed the journey of  passengers keeping them stuck on the runway. They remained there for the next 14 hours, unable to get off the plane as temperatures dropped to 20 degrees below zero, CNN reported.

The passengers were apparently unable to leave the plane because the airport  didn’t have customs agents on duty to process them. .The flight was eventually  diverted to an airport in Newfoundland, Canada because of a medical emergency. After hours, they passengers became hungry and began tweeting for help.  Goose Bay officials brought the passengers and crew donuts and coffee from Tim Hortons, the popular Canadian fast food restaurant.

After the passengers were stuck for more than half a day, another aircraft was sent to pick up some of the passengers and take them back to Newark. When the plane was set to continue its journey, a mechanical issue kept passengers stuck on the runway. They remained there for the next 14 hours, unable to get off the plane as temperatures dropped to 20 degrees below zero
