Uk Snap Election Likely Over Brexit No Deal Tension

By Ben Kerrigan-

A snap election in the Uk is becoming ever so likely as Mps engage in intense disagreement over Brexit  and prime minister Boris Johnson’s plans to prorogue parliament.

Mr Johnson, who is due to hold a cabinet meeting at 17.00 BST with Tory Mps, is seriously considering a snap election because of the ongoing tension over the prime minister’s plans to take the Uk out of Europe by October 31, with or without a deal.

The prime minister’s insistence that the UK must leave the EU on 31 October, with or without a deal, has  prompted a number of MPs to unite and present a challenge  to try to prevent the UK leaving without an agreement.

They are expected to put forward legislation on Tuesday to stop no deal under “SO24” or Standing Order 24 . The legislation entitles MPs to ask for a debate on a “specific and important matter that should have urgent consideration”. Johnson has warned Tory rebels that those who support the legislation face being expelled from the party and deselected. However, angry Mps have not been deterred by the threat and are pressing on to do all in their power to stop the prime minister from forcing Brexit under circumstances they find damaging.

Johnson and his allies believe it is their duty to honour the results of the 2016 referendum in which the British public marginally voted to leave the EU. Many objectors have said that the public voted based on misinformation, and have called for a second referendum for a fairer outcome now there is more knowledge about the potential implications of Brexit.

Former prime minister, Theresa May was strongly against a second referendum and refused one, and there is practically zero chance that Johnson would consider such an option. A court in Scotland is due to consider  a claim by over 70 Mps in relation to Johnson’s plans to shit down Parliament in order to get Brexit through.
