U.S Republican Governor Wants Steve Wynn Donations Returned

By Aaron Miller-

Charlie Baker has asked for donations received from disgraced Steve Wynn to be returned, in the wake of the sexual allegation scandal that led to the casino tycoon stepping down as the CEO of the Wynn resorts.

Republicans who took political donations from toppled casino mogul Steve Wynn should “seriously consider” returning the money, according to Government Republican, Charlie Baker. “I certainly think people who are in positions where they received donations from Steve Wynn should seriously consider giving them back,” Baker said.

Wynn stepped down as finance chairman of the Republican National Committee in the wake of a Wall Street Journal report detailing allegations of a long history of sexual harassment by the billionaire entrepreneur. Wynn also resigned from his namesake company earlier this week.

Baker’s campaign manager Jim Conroy called the allegations against Whynn “sickening,” and said Baker was “pleased the Party has severed ties with Wynn.” Baker and his campaign wasted no time in proudly confirming that he, Lt. Gov. Karen Polito nor the state GOP had ever asked for or received any donations from Wynn.

Wynn donations to political campaign and committees since 2017, are said to have amounted to over $150,000 to campaigns and political committees since 2017. Wynn gave $100,000 to the National Republican Senatorial Committee and more than $17,000 to the Republican National Committee.

The RGA gave back $100,000 to Wynn Resorts. Representatives for Arizona Senator, Jeff Flake and Monta Congressman Greg Giantforte, both said they would rather return the donations to charity than to Wynns Resort. Verification of those charities will be the next point of scrutiny at this rate.

Steve Wynn also donated to a handful of individual candidates, largely in Nevada, including Sen. Dean Heller and two congressional candidates He has also given elite Democrats, including Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, John Kerry and a number of senators.

Returning donated money is supposedly a statement of principle

The RNC has declined to return Wynn’s donations before an investigation finds him guilty of wrongdoing.

Other senators were not as enthusiastic with the idea of returning donation money to Wynn, with some saying they would rather donate the money to charity than to return it to Wynn Resorts.

Baker has been making news recently for the right reasons. He introduced a $160 million budget bill yesterday for Puerto Rican evacuees and women’s health.
