U.S Landlord Escapes Jail With Probation For Killing Tenants Dog

By Aaron Miller-

A landlord who killed his tenant’s dog in October after entering the rental property without permission has accepted a plea deal for probation.

60 year old Richard Lee Iverson from Klamath falls in the state of Oregon in the U.S, pleaded guilty on January 3rd to aggravated first-degree animal abuse and felon in possession of a firearm. He was sentenced to three years probation as part of a plea deal

Iverson was originally arrested by Oregon police last November by Oregon police after entering a home he owns of the 22nd block of Grape Street on the 2200 block of Grape Street in Oregon to feed a dog in the absence of the tenant despite clear objection to do so . The Eye of Media.Com heard that he felt the female owner of the dog was not taking good care of the animal, so he took it upon himself to feed the animal when she was out. The animal became aggressive and Iverson shot the dog before burying the remains in the backyard. The tenant refused to talk to The Eye Of Media.Com, most likely in fear of reprisals, and strongly objected to her name being mentioned.

Iverson got away lightly with the offence given the maximum of 20 years punishment available for his crime. He had paid a $25,000 bail, but was not expected to get off with just a probation sentence. A 2014 conviction for first-degree burglary meant he was not allowed to possess a gun. Iverson had just served a three sentence for the first degree burglary offence, only to commit this offence shortly after his release from custody .

His previous jail sentence was for first-degree burglary, felon in possession of a firearm, and second-degree animal abuse, as well as driving while under a suspended license. His conviction proves that landlords come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Iverson is notorious for being short tempered and violent, one of the worst individuals any would be tenant should pick for a landlord. However, people in need of accommodation rarely take time to research their prospective landlord; landlords are expected to be safe, reasonable minded and law abiding. More so, when they have inhabited this planet for six decades, but Iverson is a dangerous unstable man that should not be permitted to be anybody’s landlord. Neigbours in his area told The Eye Of Media.Com that Iverson was an ”odd ball” who was frequently seen in tantrums with some of his tenants or random people.

35 year old male neighbour anonymously told The Eye Of Media.Com ” Richard is not very liked in the area, he is considered a loose canon. He should never have been allowed to be a landlord. I don’t know why he is not stripped of his license, he is not a nice man. Another was very critical of the sentencing against Iverson. A 42 year old female neighbour told The Eye Of Media.Com ” he is a very strange man, I can’t believe he got away with killing somebody’s dog. The poor woman must be very distraught , he should have been locked up for it. He must be in another planet to think he could just enter a house where a dog resides and feed the dog when he is not the owner. The dog must have sensed he was an awful man and reacted aggressively. He proved himself by killing the dog. I hope nobody ever rents a property off him again, he is an overbearing man”.

The woman stressed her request not to mention her name, and on two occasions sought to confirm that a camera hanging round the neck of our photographer wasn’t turned on. ” I have three big children and two young grandchildren”, she said . I still want to live a lot longer if you don’t mind”.
