Tyson Fury Set To Fight Unbeaten German Tom Schwarz

By Tim Parsons-

Tyson Fury’s  next fight is set to be against little-known German prospect Tom Schwarz in Las Vegas this summer.

The first date of former world heavyweight champion Fury’s lucrative five-fight deal with US broadcasting giants ESPN is to take place on June 15 at the boxing capital’s Thomas and Mack Center.

Schwarz at 6ft 5 1/2 inches,  is unbeaten and ranked second by the WBO organisation but is outside the top 15 with both the WBA and the WBC and is ninth with the IBF. Schwarz is unbeaten in 24  professional fights, with-16 coming by way of knockout , but the German has fought nobody of significant note.

The fight is being seen as an opportunity to build Fury’s profile in the U.S after his thrilling draw against Deontey Wilder at the Los Angeles Staple Centre in December. Fury will e expected to come through that fight unscathed, but Schwarz, who is no mug, will give Fury a work out. In the meantime, boxing fans will look forward to the heavyweight world title defence between Deontey Wilder and Dominic Breazeale on May 18, and that of Anthony Joshua and Jarrell Miller on June 1.
