Two Teenagers Charged With Murder Of Mohanna Abdou

By Eric King-

Two teenagers have been charged with the murder of Mohanna Abdou, killed last May in Malvern Road, Kilburn.

19 year old Mohammed Tawfik, and a 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were both charged this morning with the murder of 20 year old Abdhou.

Known by her friends as Montana, the youngster was with her friends close to a children’s playground outside Dickens House when they were approached by two males on bicycles. She was shot just before 9 pm on May 26, and died about half an hour later. The motive for her killing is not known , and friends and family of Montana have been baffled by the killing. Witnesses believed she was a bystander in a feud between Mozart Estate and South Kilburn, and that the intended targets escaped unharmed. However, the eye of media.com heard from street sources in the area at the time that Montana was actually targeted for reasons that have not been corroborated, and therefore remain unconfirmed.

Anytime a major murder is committed in a crime ridden area like Kilburn, there are usually people in the area who know alot more about the killing and its history than police can hope to discover. Many times, those in possession of vital knowledge remain tight lipped about what they know, for fear of reprisals, and also especially where they have cast a personal judgment on whether they consider the murder justified given the historical circumstances they know about. Othertimes, the killers keep it quiet, though ‘bad boys’ in most areas are very brovadocious about criminal atatcks like murder, that they want it to be known that they are behind a killing, to gain the respect that come with street credentials.

Credibility to the claim that Mohanna Abdou was targeted can only be plausible if the dead girl can be linked by association in any way to gang cirlces in Mozart Estate or South Kilburn, but that is one for the police intelligence to establish. What is known is that the perpetrators escaped through Shirland Road into Shirland Mews, disappearing thereafter to a place of safety after the murder. However, police pursued an aggressive investigation, as expected, and believe they have enough evidence to convict Mohammed Tawfik. The 19 year old was initially arrested on June 6, but later released, before being re-arrested on October 31 after further investigations were conducted.

His aleged 16 year old accomplice from west London also arrested in the early hours of November. Both men are due to appear at Hendon Magistrates’ Court later today. Police had previously arrested seven other people- four men and three women beyween the ages of 20 and 25. All were later released on bail. Pretty Mohanna Abdou wa soriginally from Iran and once lived with her family in Northolt.
