Trump Loses Bid To Lift Gag Order Over Fraud Case

By Aaron Miller-

Donald Trump’s bid to lift the gag order imposed on him during the New York civil fraud trial has hit a roadblock. The order, prohibiting the former president from making disparaging comments about court staff, remains in effect.

Testimonies in the civil fraud trial have concluded, setting the stage for oral arguments on January 11.

Justice Arthur Engoron aims to deliver his final judgment by the end of the month, adding suspense to an already closely watched legal saga.

Simultaneously, Trump’s personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, has chosen not to testify in a multimillion-dollar defamation trial. Giuliani faces allegations of spreading false claims against Georgia election workers Shaye Moss and Ruby Freeman related to the 2020 election.

A jury will decide the damages Giuliani must pay, following emotionally charged testimonies that highlighted the devastating impact of his unfounded accusations.

In another twist, US District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan has officially stayed all deadlines in Trump’s federal election interference case.

The case, originally scheduled for March 4, 2024, alleges Trump’s involvement in efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results. The trial is now on hold, pending the resolution of Trump’s appeal on presidential immunity, adding an element of uncertainty to the timeline of this closely watched case.

The legal saga continues to intensify as the US Supreme Court has granted special counsel Jack Smith’s request to expedite the immunity case against Donald Trump. This case raises pivotal questions about whether Trump can be held accountable for his actions during the 2020 election on an accelerated timeline, underscoring the urgency and significance of the legal matters at hand.

The legal landscape surrounding Trump remains dynamic, and the decisions rendered in these cases will undoubtedly shape the narrative surrounding the former president’s post-presidential legal challenges. Stay tuned for further updates as these high-stakes legal dramas continue to unfold.
