Trump Former Campaign Lawyer To Be Sued For Shooting Comment

By Aaron Miller-

Fired cybersecurity chief Christopher Krebbs has threatened legal action after Trump campaign lawyer said he should be shot.

DiGenova made the far reaching  remark about Krebs on The Howie Carr Show, a podcast shown on YouTube and the Trump-allied Newsmax TV, on Monday.

“Anybody who thinks the election went well,” he said, “like that idiot Krebs who used to be the head of cybersecurity, that guy is a class A moron. He should be drawn and quartered. Taken out at dawn and shot.”

Only the day before, Krebs told CBS 60 Minutes that Trump was trying to “undermine democracy … to undermine confidence in the election, to confuse people, to scare people”. Krebs also appeared on CNN to discredit Trump’s continuous battle with the elections after being sacked for defending the integrity of the elections.

Responding to the comments, he told television host Savannah Guthrie on NBC’s TODAY , :”I’ve got an exceptional team of lawyers that win in court, and I think they’re probably going to be busy,” he said.

In an interview on NBC’s “TODAY” show, host Savannah Guthrie asked Krebs how concerned he is about the comments made by Trump campaign lawyer Joe diGenova on Monday in which he said Krebs “is a class A moron. He should be drawn and quartered. Taken out at dawn and shot.”

“It’s certainly more dangerous language, more dangerous behaviour,” Krebs responded. “And the way I look at it is that we are a nation of laws, and I plan to take advantage of those laws. I’ve got an exceptional team of lawyers that win in court, and I think they’re probably going to be busy.”

DiGenova made the comment during an interview with conservative radio talk show host Howie Carr, whose show is also aired on Newsmax, one of the president’s preferred media outlets.

When asked if he is worried about his safety, Krebs said he is “not going to give them the benefit of knowing his reaction to the remarks, adding that ”They can know that there are things coming up.”

A top Georgia elections official called for Trump and other federal officials to condemn the remarks.

“Mr. President, you have not condemned these actions or this language. Senators, you’ve not condemned this language or these actions. This has to stop. We need you to step up and if you’re going to take a position of leadership, show some,” said Gabriel Sterling, Georgia’s voting system implementation manager, who added that election workers had received death threats after the remarks.

However, smelling the prospect of danger, diGenova released a statement Tuesday afternoon, diGenova said, “For anyone listening to the Howie Carr Show, it was obvious that my remarks were sarcastic and made in jest. I, of course, wish Mr. Krebs no harm. This was hyperbole in a political discourse.”

During an interview that aired Sunday on CBS’s “60 Minutes,” Krebs criticized Trump campaign attorney Rudy Giuliani for spreading misinformation about the election, which Krebs has repeatedly said was secure and not subject to widespread fraud.

Trump called that interview “ridiculous, one-sided [and] an international joke”.

DiGenova is not the first close Trump aide to call for the death of an official in the president’s disfavour. In early November, former campaign chief and White House strategist Steve Bannon said FBI director Christopher Wray and public health expert Anthony Fauci should be beheaded. He was banned from Twitter.

DiGenova said Trump’s legal team was “talking to the jury, trying to influence the jury. And that includes judges and state legislatures. And the governors in these states are a bunch of losers, along with their secretaries of state. I’ve never seen such wimps wearing an R [being Republican].

“You know, they’re going to have to be dealt with politically. It’s the only way you deal with these people.”
