Trump Accuses Meghan Of Disrespect To The Royal Family And Using Prince Harry

By Aaron Miller-

Former US president Donald Trump has accused the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, of being “disrespectful” to the Queen and the royal family.

In a  broad interview with the politician turned broadcaster Nigel Farage, Trump said he thought the Duke of Sussex had been “used horribly”.

The interview with Trump, 75, who was impeached in January 2021, after inciting an insurrection in Capitol Hill as Congress met to certifiy the election victory of  Joe Biden,  made the comments during an interview in Florida on Monday and is to be broadcast on GB News- the new broadcasting outlet that has been critical of woke culture and vows to explore different angles.

Speaking about Meghan, Trump said: “I’m not a fan of hers. I wasn’t from day one. I think Harry has been used horribly and I think some day he will regret it.”

According to GB News, he added: “I think Harry’s been used and been used terribly. I think it’s ruined his relationship with his family, and it hurts the Queen.”

In response to comments from Farage about Meghan using Duchess of Sussex headed writing paper to lobby members of Congress, Trump, the first US officeholder to be impeached twice, said: “She is trying do things that I think are very inappropriate.”

GB News said he told Farage: “I think she’s very disrespectful to the royal family and most importantly to the Queen.”

During the interview, Trump described the Queen as “a great woman, such a great person, a historic person”.

Trump described Meghan Markle as nasty ahead of his 2019 UK visit to meet the royal family and Boris Johnson, after he was asked  by a Sun reporter if he was looking forward to meeting the Duchess Of Sussex whom the journalist informed him hadn’t been so nice to her.

Meghan Markle had criticised president Trump following allegations of sexual harassment against multiple women decades prior to his election campign to become president of America in 2016.

“I didn’t know that, no. I didn’t know that. No, I hope she’s OK. I did not know that, no,” Trump replied.

When asked whether it was “good having an American princess” and whether Markle’s May 2018 marriage to Prince Harry of Wales, now the Duke of Sussex, strengthened ties between the U.S. and the U.K.

“I think it’s nice. I think it’s nice, and I’m sure she will do excellently,” Trump said. “She will be very good. She will be very good. I hope she does.”

Meghan Markle has been chiefly blamed for the fall out between the Sussexes and the royal family, but a series of interviews given by her husband Prince Harry has revealed that he was just a smuch interested to step back from royal duties as his wife, and had always wanted out.

However, the internal feud between his wife and the royal household made it convenient for him to pursue a long time desire he always had.

Trump is hardly in a position to levy criticism against anybody for disrespect after he disrespected the American people by refusing to acknowlwdge defeat in the 2020 U.S elections, but his criticism of Meghan Markle is not one that would be unpopular with the British public or GB News- the news outlet that publicised the former president’s condemnation of the Duchess Of Sussex.

A select team of professionals have been keeping track of developments with the Duke aand Duchess Of Sussex to analyse their public conduct as well as the media’s reporting of the couple as part of a long term assessment of the issue which has divided the British public since her introduction to the royal fmily.

Fall Out

The fall out between the Sussexes and the royal family began after Prince William advised his brother to move slowly with Meghan Markle and be careful of her potential motives. Prince Harry did not take well to the advise and concluding his brother was not giving the woman he faniced a chance before getting to know her.

Meghan Markle then had a series of disputes with the royal household, including Kate Middleton, over royal prtocols in relation to their wedding plans, and on another occassion, over whether soup being prepared for the wedding contained meet in it, against her vegan lifestyle.

Tension escalated from there, with the Duchess Of Sussex complaining that she was treated badly and not provided assistance when she complained of feeling suicidal.

During the couple’s interview with Oprah Winfrey in March, Prince Harry expressed disappointment that his family refused to intervene after bitter complaints from him about press victimisation, later claiming that he planned to break the ”genetic cycle” of inadequate support in the face of media attacks.

Meghan Markle has been criticised for using her royal titles to lobby Congress for paid leave for unemployed mothers. Many of her critics have called for her to be stripped of her royal titles, a drastic step not common in royal tradition.
