The family of a 33-year-old father have paid tribute to him, after he was stabbed by two men in South London who mistakenly believed their target had a large quantity of drugs. Donald Owusu, 25, and Harvey MacFoy, 26, were both sentenced yesterday  for murdering Albert Amofa(pictured) in Croydon.

Both  men were found guilty of murder at a hearing on Monday, May 9. A third man, Theo Brown, 32, was also sentenced for perverting the course of justice for his role in disposing of the hire car used in the attack

Mr Amofa’s leaves behind his family who has labelled this as a “senseless killing” following the conviction and have also stated “We as a family are very pleased with the outcome of the trial. Albert’s death was senseless and cruel. “He suffered for 48 hours in intensive care before passing away. That will always stay with us.

“Albert is not a statistic in black on black crime, he was a father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and a good man, who is loved and we miss him dearly. We are glad that the men who committed this crime have been found guilty, but the cycle of violence needs to end.

Owusu and MacFoy had meticulously planned the attack on Mr Amofa, who they believed would be in possession of a sizeable quantity of cannabis, going so far as to buy a tracker which they fitted to Amofa’s Mercedes. In December 2019, Owusu stabbed the father-of-one multiple times in the leg in the car, leaving him to bleed heavily onto the pavement and die the following day.Pictured: Harvey MacFoy

Mr Amofa’s family said his death has “predictably devastated” and affected the family in unimaginable ways. They said: “A mother has lost her son, a son has lost his father, siblings and cousins lost a brother; the list goes on. Albert’s wife is now a single parent through no choice of her own, having to navigate life without her husband to parent their son into adulthood.”
