Tim Westwood Interviewed By Police For Fourth Time Over Sexual Misconduct

By James Simons-

Tim Westwood, the renowned hip-hop DJ and radio presenter, has been interviewed by police for the fourth time under caution in connection with allegations of sexual misconduct.

The 66-year-old, who stepped down from his show on Capital Xtra in April of the previous year, has consistently denied any wrongdoing.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that they are actively investigating accusations of non-recent sexual offenses alleged to have taken place between 1982 and 2016.

In their official statement, the police did not disclose the name of the hip-hop DJ and radio personality involved.

The Metropolitan Police’s statement read: “Police are investigating a number of reports relating to allegations of non-recent sexual offenses allegedly committed by a man. The offenses are alleged to have occurred in London between 1982 and 2016.”

It was revealed that the man in question had been interviewed under caution four times between March 15 and October 25 of this year, though no arrest has been made as of now.

The BBC initiated an external inquiry in 2022 to investigate what the corporation may or may not have known about Tim Westwood’s conduct during his tenure with the organization.

In the previous year, a joint investigation by The Guardian and BBC News published allegations of sexual misconduct and predatory behavior made by multiple women against the radio presenter.

Tim Westwood began his career on local radio before joining Capital Radio in London.

He subsequently moved to the BBC, where he appeared on Radio 1 and, later, Radio 1Xtra, before departing the corporation in 2013 after nearly two decades.

Westwood hosted a regular Saturday show on Capital Xtra, where he was affectionately referred to as “The Big Dawg,” before leaving the company in the previous year.

A representative for Tim Westwood released a statement in 2022, vehemently denying all allegations of inappropriate behavior. The statement read, “Tim Westwood strongly denies all allegations of inappropriate behavior. In a career that has spanned 40 years, there have never been any complaints made against him officially or unofficially. Tim Westwood strongly rejects all allegations of wrongdoing.”

Tim Westwood’s representatives have been contacted for further comment on the ongoing investigation.
