Theresa May In Brexit No Deal Corridor

Theresa May In Brexit No Deal Corridor

By  Ben Kerrigan-

Theresa May announced she is preparing for a no deal  Brexit in an astonishing admission that spells doom for Brexit negotiations, leaving the reality of a bad exit from the EU  more real than previously thought. May made her firm stance at a summit in Stanzburg on Thursday.  The concerns lie in the potential consequences of Brexit without a deal. Many Tory Mp’s believe such a deal would be catastrophic for Britain, but others believe Britain can still benefit from Trade with America and the rest of the world successfully.

As soon as Ms May’s chequer’s deal was comprehensively rejected by the 27 members of the EU block, it was clear that her firm resolution not to compromise on what the British public voted for would only strengthen the unity of EU members to maintain a strong stand against her. May was isolated, but she showed strength in her isolation, despite its obvious implications of  a dead end if no compromises are made.

Her proposals for a common market on internal goods alone has always been rejected as not open to compromise, and the vexatious issue of Northern Ireland has become a growing problem for the Uk and the EU. Both sides want opposite things. Barnier, who heads the EU summed up the state of affairs when he said May’s proposal ” won’t work

Mrs May said: “I have always said that these negotiations were going to be tough and at various stages tactics would be used as part of those negotiations.

“What I’m focused on is delivering on the vote of the British people and delivering that in a way that ensures we deliver on our commitments of no hard border between Northern Ireland and Ireland and we do so by retaining the union of the UK and we protect jobs in doing that.

“The proposal we have put forward is the only proposal on the table that actually delivers on that sustainable future by offering free and frictionless movement of goods across borders.

“If there are concerns from the EU, let’s hear what those concerns are and let’s sit down and look at those concerns.”

NO DEAL

May essentially vowed to deliver Brexit with or without a deal . The prime minister prepared the world’s mind for the real possibility of Britain leaving The EU without a deal.

May Said: “Let nobody be in any doubt that we are preparing for no deal.” Her firm position, which spells disaster in the eyes of many may be one she feels works in the alternative views she sees the whole Brexit affair playing out in the future.

If May believes Britain can still thrive in trade with America and other parts of the world, it may be a path she believes Britain has got to take. A key factor that works against her now is the fact many see her path is as leading to danger, but in theory a way of economic prosperity and high living standards can be achieved in a Brexit world, there would still be hope amid the gloomy look of disaster.

The prime minister will then have the task of convincing enough ministers to see her vision and array of possibilities which they are missing. Those who see her plans as a dead failure will not support her. A main problem has always been in politicians and experts being able to present a clear and logically convincing picture of what Brexit will actually look like- no one can, but everyone who understands it or thinks they understand it will have a strong opinion of how they think matters should be handled.
