By Isabelle Wilson-

The  impact of the first openly trans lawmaker in the US  has admitted to sickening child sex charges involving young kids in a daycare is not fully felt yet.

Former Democratic New Hampshire state Rep. Stacie-Marie Laughton, 41,(pictured0 a biological male who identifies as female, pleaded guilty to charges including sexual exploitation of children last week in a Boston federal court.  Laughton now faces up to 30 years in federal prison. The admission threatens to bring  the reputation of US politicians to disrepute, particularly in light of  wide ranging though uncorroborated reports that there are a number of political elites in the US who wo have in past times indulged in sex abuses with children., using them as rituals for various purposes. It could also put other neuro divergent individuals . The news also spells disaster for other neuro divergent politicians who may be tared with the same brush without evidence by members of the public.

Laughton has a history of legal troubles and had already resigned from the New Hampshire House twice before this federal case. The nature of the crimes, involving children as young as 3 to 5 years old in a daycare setting, caused significant public outrage across party lines. The case became a subject of intense political discussion and media scrutiny, particularly regarding the handling of her previous legal issues by state officials and the Democratic Party, and led to calls for greater accountability and parental rights legislation.

This conviction permanently ends any potential for a return to public office. The law Maker’s former partner, Lindsay Groves, a former daycare worker, also pleaded guilty to related charges for taking and sending the explicit photos of children aged 3 to 5 years old from her place of employment. Groves is also awaiting sentencing.  The case has generated significant public outrage and commentary, particularly regarding the severity of the crimes, Laughton’s status as an elected official, and her history of legal issues that were known during her time in office.

The case involves horrific crimes against young children in a daycare setting. The legal proceedings aim to bring justice for the victims and their families. A civil lawsuit has also been filed against the daycare facility for allegedly failing to act on previous warnings about Groves. The case raises broader political and social discussions regarding the vetting of political candidates, the protection of children, and issues related to gender identity in public life

History maker

Laughton was called a history-maker following their election to the New Hampshire House in 2012 — asked Groves to take the nauseating pictures and exchanged thousands of text messages about them, according to the feds.

Last month, Groves pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of children and distribution of child pornography in a federal court, WMUR previously reported.

The former couple were both indicted in August 2023 on three counts of sexual exploitation of children.

The explicit images were taken between May and June 2022 at Creative Minds day care, where Groves worked in the small town close to Nashua, according to charging documents shared by the New Hampshire Union Leader.

Groves “used natural bathroom breaks for the children,” to photograph the children, according to docs.

The pair are due to be sentenced in February. Sexual exploitation of children is punishable by between 15 and 30 years in prison, a lifetime of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000.

Laughton was previously forced to resign twice from the New Hampshire House over separate legal issues — including three felony convictions in 2008 for credit card fraud and conspiracy to commit fraud.

Laughton’s former partner, Lindsay Groves, a former daycare worker, also pleaded guilty to related charges for taking and sending the explicit photos of children aged 3 to 5 years old from her place of employment. Groves is also awaiting sentencing.

Her criminal record that includes arrests for calling in a bomb threat to a local hospital and for credit card fraud conspiracy.

Laughton, who also goes by Stacie-Marie Laughton, faces seven counts of penalty for false information, which are Class A misdemeanors.

She was booked on the charges then later released on personal recognizance bail pending arraignment, which is scheduled for Aug. 31 in Nashua district court.

Police said the allegedly false text messages prompted officers to respond to her residence on several occasions beginning in May.
