Tearful Britney Spears Reacts To Documentary By Saying I’m Not Perfect’

By Lucy Caulkett-

Tearful Britney Spears  cried for 2 weeks after watching a documentary about her life, and says she is not perfect and that ”perfect is boring”.

Framing Britney Spears premiered in February, delving into the pop superstar’s rise to the height of the music industry, and the adversity she faced in the course of her  dramatic career.

It features  her treatment by the tabloid media, her involuntary commitment to a psychiatric ward in 2008, and the subsequent conservatorship (an “imposed power-of-attorney-on-steroids”) given to her father that saw him oversee her finances and personal affairs since 2008.

The strained relationship between the star and her father has been one of the highlights of press coverage about the successful pop star, who has had her fair share of drama and controversies.

The impact of independent documentaries on the mental health of celebrity figures can be quite huge. Embarrassment, fear, bitterness, and an erosion of confidence are all potential consequences of documentaries, especially those without the involvement of the subject themselves.

Spears, 39, released a statement on Tuesday night via Instagram: “I didn’t watch the documentary” but what she has seen of it left her “embarrassed by the light they put me in”.

“I cried for two weeks,” adding, “and well …. I still cry sometimes !!!!”.

The statement was accompanied by a video of the pop star dancing to the Aerosmith song Crazy.

In the post Spears wrote: “I have been exposed my whole life performing in front of people !!! It takes a lot of strength to TRUST the universe with your real vulnerability cause I’ve always been so judged… insulted… and embarrassed by the media… and I still am till this day !!!!”

She added: “As the world keeps on turning and life goes on we still remain so fragile and sensitive as people !!!”

“I do what I can in my own spirituality with myself to try and keep my own joy … love … and happiness !!!! Every day dancing brings me joy !!! I’m not here to be perfect … perfect is boring … I’m here to pass on kindness.”

The latest hearing on the conservatorship, Spears’ lawyer, Samuel D Ingham III, told a Los Angeles judge that Spears wished for her temporary care manager, Jodi Montgomery, to be permanently installed to manage her personal affairs.

Jamie is still co-conservator of his daughter’s financial affairs, an arrangement she is not happy with.

Rise To Prominence

Spears rise to prominence was quite spectacular, as she signed  with Jive Records in 1997 at age 15.

Her first two studio albums, were global successes. They included certified diamond in the US, …Baby One More Time (1999) and Oops!… I Did It Again (2000),  becoming the two of the best-selling albums of all time, along with making her the best-selling teenage artist of all time.

The 1999  track was named the greatest debut single of all time by Rolling Stone in 2020, and her subsequent track held a 15-year record for fastest-selling album by a female artist in the United States with first-week sales of over 1.3 million copies.
