U.S 100 metres Sprinter Tyson Gay’s 15 years old daughter has been shot dead.

The teenage daughter of American sprinter Tyson Gay has sadly been killed in a shooting in Kentucky.

The Lexington Police Department announced the shocking news that 15-year-old Trinity Gay was killed in the incident, which involved a shooting between two cars in a car park at the Cook Out restaurant in the southern US state.

Trinity was following in her father’s footsteps and had taken up athletics. She was a 200 m regional champion in the last athletics season and tipped to achieved great things in the sport like her father.

The same  athletic talent her father has was running in her blood. This killing has sent shock waves in America, and will raise a lot of questions. Lexington police said they had identified one of the cars involved in the shooting and made a couple of arrests, but no charges have yet been brought.

DECEASED

A police statement read: “A juvenile who was struck at the scene was transported to a hospital by private vehicle and then transferred to UK Hospital [University of Kentucky Hospital], where she was pronounced deceased. The victim has been identified by the Fayette County Coroner’s office as 15-year-old Trinity Gay of Lexington.”

FAST

Tyson Gay, from Lexington is the second-fastest 100m runner in the world ,behind leading Jamaican-born sprinter, Usain Bolt. The accomplished American sprinter is a two-time winner of  the Jesse Owens Award in 2007, and was also the IAAP athlete of the year  after being acknowledged for being the being the best track and field athlete in the men’s category. His heart must be heavy with grief in this difficult time.
Gay told local TV station, Lex 18. “She didn’t make it. I’m so confused. She was just here last week for fall break. It’s so crazy. I have no idea what happened,” he sadly stated. The shooting draws further attention to gun problem in America, which has long been spiraling out of control. It remains unclear what involvement she had with these lethal gangs, or whether she was present at the scene by chance. However, the news is sad and further brings bad publicity on the violent streets of America,
America is not all bad news because there are many hard working professionals who earn a fortune in their careers, and who do not fall victim to gun violence. America is truly a land of opportunities, but even the best of us can be unlucky to fall victim to gun violence anywhere in the world. The cause and circumstances of each gun violence must always be factored in when understanding the dangers of gun violence in America.

OLYMPICS

Tyson Gay has been a recognised competitor in the last three Olympics. Gay was a member of the U.S team that won a silver medal in the 4 x 100 m relay at the 2012 London Games though that medal was ultimately stripped after Gay tested positive for steroids in 2013  Gay.  Bouncing back from that setback, Gay has since won multiple men’s season’s best performances and was part of the 2016 Olympics squad in Rio Brazil.
Prior to the steroid incident, he has generally been regarded as a role model for youths and has always condemned gang violence. We can expect to see him become an additional voice against gun violence, and even loudly be a strong advocate for gun control.
The eye of media.com sends our deepest condolences to the family of Gay in these difficult times. It must be a very painful and sorrowful experience for anybody to lose their child to gun crime.
