U.S superstar, Rihanna is mourning the death of her cousin, who was shot the day after the pair shared Christmas together.
Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne was walking in the St Michael’s area around 7pm on Boxing Day hen he was shot by a man several times, the Nation News reports.
Alleyn was rushed to hospital in a private vehicle, but died in hospital. The eight-time Grammy award-winning singer was heartbroken to hear the news, and posted a series of photos of her cousin whilst calling an end to gun crime in the country.
‘RIP cousin,β she wrote. βCan’t believe it was just last night that I held you in my arms! Never thought that would be the last time I felt the warmth in your body!!! Love you always man!’
The “Work” singer also captioned the photos with an #endgunviolence hashtag.
Rihanna was close to her cousin who was present with her for her 29 th birthday in February when he posted a moving message to her that read: ”Everyday we are happy to have you in our lives . Happy birthday cousin. Your presence in our lives is a source of joy and happiness. Our dreamsome true. #LoveYouLoads #wishyoumanymoretocome.β
Recent figures reveal that 22 of 28 murders in Barbados this year have been gun-related.
Police are still searching for the gunman who is yet to be captured, and have put up an appeal for anybody with knowledge of the awful crime. Gun crime in Barbado has been on the rise , with 22 out of 28 murders this year being gun related. Why somebody would want the cousin of Rihanna dead is anybody’s guess, but police investigation is likely to dig deep into . The death would have ruined the Christmas and new year celebration for the star’s family who will now be picking up the pieces of this awful crime to one of their own.
