Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, are expecting a baby in the spring of 2019, it has been announced.
“The Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that the Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the spring of 2019,” their Kensington Palace residence said in a statement.
“Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public,” it said.
The riyal couple are expected to have their first engagement is on Tuesday, when crowds of well wishers are expected to congratulate the couple.
The duke and duchess are having their first royal tour in Australia, just like Prince Harry’s parents – Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales whose first royal tour was also to Australia and New Zealand. The news comes just after Princess Eugenie married Jack Brooksbank on Friday.Their child will be the first royal with black and American roots, making it a fascinating mix of historic significance.
Their official visit which is expected to last over 2 weeks, will take in multiple stops in Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand . All are members of the Commonwealth of predominantly former British colonies. Prince Harry’s marriage to Meghan presents a phenomenal shift in the history of royal weddings, and is a sign of an ever changing and monarchy in virtually all respects. The royals will have a huge role to play in influencing the kind of generation in which their children grow up in the enxt decade or so.
