Piers Morgan has announced that he is stepping back from using Twitter because of the amount of ‘unhinged people’ that use the platform.
The 56-year-old former Good Morning Britain presenter, who dramatically left the ITV show in March, told followers today that he believes there are a lot of ‘awful’ users on the platform and he has had enough. Fans of Meghan Markle and extreme supporters of the Black Lives Matters movement have been giving Piers Morgan a hard time on twitter.
Some of his critics are neither fans of Meghan Markle or the Black Lives Matters Movement, but simply don’t like the television presenter who was a high driver of ratings on his ITV show.
Piers’ announcement come days after he unleashed yet another scathing criticism of Meghan Markle after it was revealed that she had penned a children’s book. He accused her of hypocrisy over a book she plans to write about fathers and son, while she is not to talking to her own father.
He certainly has a point here, which the Duchess Of Sussex may need to explain to defend the credibility of her motives.
In his latest Twitter update, that Piers shared with his 7.9 million followers, the television presenter explained that he’d been focusing on the ‘real world’ in the last few weeks.
“When, as I’ve been doing these past few weeks, you spend a lot less time on Twitter, and a lot more time out & about in the real world, you realise just how many god-awful & unhinged people are on this platform,” he announced.
Piers added: “I intend spending even less time in their putrid company.”
His announcement evoked a mixed reaction from Twitter users with some appearing to agree with Piers while others expressed glee that he was taking a step back from social media.
Piers Morgan has faced a tough couple of months, ever since he left Good Morning Britain back in March following an online row with co-star Alex Beresford.
Since then, he has appeared in numerous interviews and continued his unrelenting criticism of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. He’s also penned a host of Daily Mail columns in which he has slammed what he has dubbed a ‘woke bridage’ for a host of frustrations from Snow White to Demi Lovato.
Just days ago, Piers also took aim at Meghan on Twitter after it was revealed that Bill Gates and his wife are heading for a divorce.
On Wednesday morning, Piers shared an image of Meghan smiling to herself with text reading: “So Bill Gates just got divorced,” alongside laughing face emojis on Twitter. He also shared the post on Instagram for added effect.
However, rather than join him in slating Meghan, many followers were outraged that the axed presenter continues to attack Meghan Markle.
Morgan does have many fans, some of whom are eager to make their case on this platform.
