Paralysed Jacob Blake Should Never Have Been Handcuffed To A Bed

By Aaron Miller-

The fact that a man shot by  U.S police who is paralysed from the waste down  was handcuffed to a bed, makes no logical sense.

Those handcuffs were eventually removed on Friday, after the warrant was vacated and the American’s lawyer agreed to a court case on the issue. The  injured man had  endured the inconvenience for hours.

Blake, who is no saint by ay stretch of the imagination, was shot  seven times  by police officer Rusten Sheskey, the white cop at the centre of the shooting, after the criminal opened the driver’s door and leaned forward.  The two other officers present have been named as Vincent Arena and Brittany Meronek. Blake had reportedly told the officers he had a knife.

According to reports, Mr Blake can’t possibly escape hospital even in his wildest dreams. He simply can’t walk, let alone run. Handcuffing him to a bed was simply unnecessaty and cruel.

Police officers used a taser to try to stop Jacob Blake, after a call from a complainant claiming he had refused to return her keys. The  African American walked around his vehicle and opened the driver’s side door before leaning forward.

Blake was airlifted to the Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee where he is being treated. The elder Blake visited his son at the hospital on Wednesday and said he’s been handcuffed to his bed despite being paralyzed from the waist down.

On Thursday afternoon, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers said he was concerned when he heard that the younger Blake was handcuffed.

“I would have no personal understanding why that would be necessary,” Evers said.

“I can’t imagine why that’s happening and I would hope that we would be able to find a… better way to have him get better and recover.

Blake’s father who was on the phone to presidential nominee, Joe Biden for an hour, said: “I hate it that he was laying in that bed with the handcuff onto the bed.”

The father added, “He can’t go anywhere. Why do you have him cuffed to the bed?”

Lawyers acting for Blake says he has a damaged spinal cord, spine, stomach, kidney, and liver, and has no bowel or genetical function.

Blake was shackled to his bed because of an outstanding warrant on three domestic abuse charges,  trespassing, and third degree assault.
