Paedophile Convicted For Abusing Boys For 40 Years Claimed He Was Impotent

By James Simons-

A paedophile convicted for sexually abusing  seven young boys for more than 40 years, claimed to be impotent.

Nigel Clayton, 72, raped and assaulted victims as young as just 11 across Sutton and Croydon between the 1970s up until 2017. He tried to escape conviction by claiming to have been impotent for 20 years- a laughable claim in the face of the overwhelming evidence against him.

The pervert became acquainted with the children by offering them the chance to carry out odd jobs for pocket money.

His victims were those with difficult family circumstances and, often, boys whose biological fathers were absent from their lives. The extreme pervert also pretended to be a doctor in order to find an excuse to examine the unsuspecting boys.

He also took naked pictures of the children and told them they could be models.

The Metropolitan police have declined to release his photo until he is sentenced, citing operational reasons.

Clayton, of Sutton faces jail for his horrific offending after being convicted of 31 historic child sex offences at Croydon Crown Court on Friday.

Following a five-week trial, he was found guilty  of 12 counts of indecent assault; eight counts of sexual assault; three counts of rape; two counts of indecency with a child; three counts of buggery; two counts of taking an indecent photograph of a child and one count of assault by penetration.

Nijole O’Brien, of the Crown Prosecution Service London South Rape and Serious Sexual Offences unit, described Clayton’s offences as “sickening”.

She added: “Nigel Clayton pretended to be a harmless family man who wanted to help young boys in the area. In truth his intentions were much darker.

He was a predator who used gifts, debts, threats and on occasion physical force to groom and sexually abuse his victims..

“He consistently told young boys he was a doctor or doing child development courses so he could examine them. At other times he said he could help them with a modelling career. But these were all lies to justify his sickening actions.

When arrested and interviewed Clayton claimed that the allegations were untrue and that he had been impotent for 20 years”.
