Officers Injured At Protest Over Edir De Costa Death

By Eric King-

Six officers were injured at a protest on Sunday over the death of Edir De Costa. Four were taken to hospital, including a police sergeant with face injuries and a woman constable with head injuries, Scotland Yard said today.

Two police cars were also damaged and several street litter bins were set alight.
Some protesters dispersed into smaller groups around 11pm after the main crowd had disbursed and officers had more missiles thrown at them. Most protesters had dispersed by 3am.

Police have arrested 4 people after tense protests in East London over the death of Edson. One person was arrested on suspicion of disorder offences, three others on suspicion of arson and criminal damage. 6 officers in all were injurred, 4 of them hospitalised . One police Segeant sustained facial injurries, and a female constable sustained face injurries in the melee that followed the demonstrations. Several demonstrators held placards of ‘black lives matter’, as they called for justice over the death of the young black male after he was stopped and arrested at East Ham on June 15
They shouted “Justice for Edson” during the protest from the police station along Romford Road to Stratford.

Edson’s family have questioned the use of force by the police and have claimed he suffered a broken neck that led to his death. However, the Police Complaints Commission has denied the claim and say they are still investigating the allegation of excessive force by the police. There were intense scenes of confrontation between protesters and the police on Sunday, with all sorts of weapons hurled at the police, especially at Forest Gate, where things turned really ugly.

The black community in Newham have a bad relationship with the black community in Newham.

The eye of media.com told 2 weeks ago how a police officer claimed that the British police is generally undervalued by the media and the public. And the officer, from Newham itself, sated that officers are often accused of racism even where minority indiviuduals are breaking the law. Black and minority groups deserve equal rights like the rest of society. However, whenever they deliberately break the law, the have no grounds to cry racism when police officers are confronting or arresting them. This does not justify or permit police officiers to use excessive force on them. However, to any extent white criminals may sometimes be subjected to similar use of force by the police, racism does not apply.

The British police have already been branded as ”institutionally racist” by the Mcpherson report into the murder of Stephen Lawrence in 1993. That fact has not changed, but we also know that the police are generally quite forceful and potentially brutal when dealing with suspected criminals. Submissive and co-operative suspects are usually are not rough handled by police, although much depends on the offence the police believe them to have committed. The more criminal the offence, the rougher the handling and force police are likely to use.

The eye of media.com will be looking closely into the investigation by the IPCC, and giving our own independent and professional assessment once w ehave all the facts. A riot followed the killing of another black criminal,Mark Duggan, in 2011. Police offcers were cleared by the investigation to follow, but the eye of media.com believe the investigation was highly flawed and the armed officers in that case were very reckless, and potentially guilty of murder becaus eof the number of unnecessary shots fired at Duggan in that incident.
