Microsoft’s £5.6bn Purchase Of Gitnub Is A Hit

By Aaron Miller.
Microsoft ‘s phenomenal £5.6bn purchase of GitHub is a big hit that could have an astronomical effect on the software market.

GitHub  evolved into the massively  successful web based hosting service  for version control, through franchising and a useful platform for clever knowledge sharing.  It is the largest host of source code in the world. It provides very useful collaborative features including bug tracking,  and task management, which facilitates the collaboration of several developers for the greater good of the collective and corporate group. It’s appeal has led to the  phenomenal growth of GitHub.

Millions of software developers around the world  use Github  as a platform to host and review each other’s code for the purposes of company building.  Many of these developers and businesses pay a monthly fee to access private code repositories and other services. Microsoft’s hefty investment will do wonders for its already wide reach, but this could be the super bold take over that may significantly change the goal posts.

The deal will be subject to rigorous examination by suspicious and competitive businessmen- it should be no surprise if some investigators are quietly looking at this deal. It must be legally tight with no loopholes, after all it is Microsoft we are talking about here, we can assume. One can still not be surprised at what can go on behind closed doors. Once serious money is on the tables, new dimensions can always be created. Its must be clean in its goals and overall procedures. Let’s assume it is.

Github is normally a repository for an open source, so its integration with an online platform built on propriety software would send shivers down many people’s spine. Microsoft’s is no stranger to phenomenal deals. Its highest known deal to date was a 27 million dollar acquisition of LinkedIn in 2016. With this new deal there are concerns that

Microsoft said GitHub will retain its “developer-first ethos”, operate independently and remain an open platform. If its professed independent operations are closely connected with thriving platforms like Github, it could provide a strong rivalry for companies like facebook and Google, who are currently the main giants in the software world.

OPEN SOURCE

GitHub was once centred  on open-source software, later expanded its reach through multiple services  that  enabled large companies like Facebook use it for more sensitive, proprietary projects.

Its brilliant software-management system maximises its benefits  when it comes to various software types.easy.  GitHub’s global interaction of similar minded software developers makes it one of the most powerful forums for business development and broadening of knowledge.   Microsoft has historically been an active participant of GitHub, in fact Microsoft say they have dominated the contribution to its rich base.  It now wants to be independent, but the nature of its independence is likely to spark both a revival and a rivalry in the software industry.

If the level of activity created by a big move of this magnitude leads to a far wider podium for business engagements, the successful and existing social media platforms of today may find themselves being superseded by the overall effects of this grand move.
