Meghan Markle made a surprise appearance at Wimbledon to support good pal, tennis star Serena Williams.

Markle was spotted  in the stands with University friends Lindsay Roth and Genevieve Hillis. The Duchess of Sussex has been a fixture at the match in recent years. She attended the tournament in 2016, around the same time she was set up on a blind date with future husband Prince Harry. Last year, she attended alongside her sister-in-law Kate Middleton, who showed up on Tuesday to watch Williams play

It was The Dutchess Of York’s third public appearance since giving birth. She was joined by Lindsay Roth, who met Meghan at Northwestern University in the U.S., and Genevieve Hillis, who co-hosted Meghan’s baby shower with Williams.  Markle wore a nice necklace adorned with the letter “A,” , presumably representing the first initial of her son Archie, whose christening takes place in the Private Chapel at Windsor Castle on Saturday

Last summer, Williams and her husband Alexis Ohanian, who both attended the royal wedding, joined Meghan to watch Harry compete in a polo match in Ascot, England. Williams also helped throw a baby shower for her friend in N.Y.C. earlier this year.

After dropping the first set Thursday, No. 11 seed Williams came back to beat 18-year-old qualifier Kaja Juvan of Slovenia, 2-6, 6-2, 6-4, to advance to the third round of Wimbledon. She managed to turn the game  around in time to win the second set and earned a break in the fifth game of the third for a 3-2 lead.

After being broken in the eighth game, Serena closed out the match by serving up an ace on match point. The seven-time Wimbledon champ next plays No. 18 Julia Goerges in a rematch of last year’s semifinal won by Williams, 6-2, 6-4.Williams is attempting to tie Margaret Court’s all-time record of 24.
Meanwhile, defending champion Angelique Kerber crashed out of Wimbledon with a shock second-round defeat to American Lauren Davis Thursday. The three-time grand slam champion lost 6-2 2-6 1-6 to the 95th-ranked Davis.
