London teenagers are in desperate need of role models. Most teens growing in the city of London are searching for role models, but can’t find them.
The nearest they come to finding a role model is the rapper or rich drug dealer driving his expensive car and wearing glittery gold jewelry. Drug dealers are obviously not role models, and many of them don’t claim to be. However, they are looked up to by younger London teenagers whenever they are seen looking like life is all sweet.
It appears cool and trendy in many circles, despite the huge dangers and risks that accompany it. Rapping is another many youths aspire to, post code but only a select few are role models.
VIOLENCE
Most rappers glorify violence and spit vain profanities that hardly qualify them for role model material. Apart from a handful of artists in the UK, like Stormzy or Tinie Tempah, it is hard to find true role models in the music industry, but those are the people youths listen to.
Rappers rarely, if ever, address the issues that face youths. The postcode wars , gun violence, and street crime is hardly touched by rappers
That’ s simply because rappers are generally more interested in their pay cheques, and few have the intelligence or education to address the issues that make youths as narrow-minded as they can be.
Footballer’s are not role models, although they should be. Role models should be people who have done well in life, conduct themselves well , and engage positively with youths.
DEVELOPMENT
The best role models for youths may be youths themselves. Youths who develop well, who take or took school seriously, and respect authority, should be openly honored and placed in respectable positions.
Youths must not be left to their own devices, they need positive direction from those who have been there and done it.
