Gary Goldsmith, (pictured)the uncle of Duchess Kate Middleton, has stirred controversy with his candid remarks about Meghan Markle during his appearance on Celebrity Big Brother.
The 53-year-old businessman made his first public comments about the royal family, sparking debate about the dynamics within the royal household.
Goldsmith’s comments, aired during Tuesday night’s episode of the reality show, have garnered attention for their direct criticism of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
He criticised Harry’s decision to publish his memoir, asserting that one cannot “throw your family under the bus” and still expect to be welcomed for family events like Christmas.
Goldsmith further suggested that Meghan’s entrance into the royal family introduced an additional layer of complexity, leading to increased drama and rewriting of historical narratives.
However, his comments earned him some criticism when he revealed in response to a question from fellow contestant Louis Walsh that he had never met Meghan Markle”.
Responding to the question, Goldsmith said: “No. So, I have an opinion that Harry was really, really loved. Massively loved.
‘And when they were a threesome, so Kate, William and Harry, they looked really comfortable together, and loved.
“And then suddenly, there is an extra dynamic that comes in, puts a stick in the spokes, and creates so much drama that I don’t genuinely think was there, and rewrote the history and said how unhappy he was.
“And I just don’t think that’s fair.
“You can’t throw your family under a bus in such a dramatic style, they’re writing books about it, and expected to be invited round for Christmas!
Goldsmith’s comments did not address the complaints from Meghan Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, but merely focused on the fact the couple threw the family under the bus.
Meghan Markle sparked uproar in many circles when she revealed that a journalist had lied that she made Kate Middleton cry when it was the other way round. The duchess of Sussex went on to reveal that Kate apologised and offered her a bunch of flowers.

However, she faced stern criticism among royalists and critics for publicly criticizing the royal family, though unbeknown to her critics the criticism was to increase and get wider.
Meghan Markle claimed she was subjected to ill treatment when she joined the royal family, and did everything in her power to make things work.- a claim disputed by close associates of the royal family.
In Harry’s book, Spare, the duke of sussex revealed there had been tension between his wife and his sister in law, adding that there had been complaints from his brother about Meghan Markle’s alleged bullish treatment of staff.
The timing of Goldsmith’s remarks coincides with doubts surrounding Kate Middleton’s return to official duties, following reports that the army removed a claim from its website regarding her participation in the Trooping the Colour ceremony in June.
This development has intensified speculation about the internal dynamics of the royal family, particularly in light of ongoing controversies and tensions.
Goldsmith’s comments will likely reignite discussions about the rifts within the royal family, with some questioning the extent to which his views reflect broader sentiments within royal circles.
Goldsmith’s criticism of Meghan Markle may resonate with certain factions, others may view it as unbalanced.
Meanwhile, King Charles III has suspended public engagements while he seeks treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer. His tense relationship with his Prince Harry has been a matter of public knowledge, although there have been accounts that he has made attempts to reconcile with his son.
