IPCC Condemn Surrey Police Over Murder Case

By Ashley Young-

The IPCC has come demanded Surrey police over its negligent handling of a case that involved the murder of a mother and daughter.

66 years old Christine Lee and her daughter Lucy Lee were shot dead by stepfather John Lowe, after police returned a short gun to him without taken basic steps to use the Surrey’s s police’s information and intelligence systems.

THREATS TO KILL

The investigation by the IPCC concluded that police failed to highlight threats to kill made by Lowe, or assess whether he was a danger to he public. Information relating to Lowe was not looked at properly

The IPCC concluded that a detective constable , a detective sergeant had a case to answer for misconduct, and a detective inspector had a case to answer for gross misconduct.

IPCC associate commissioner , Tim Minson, said its investigation paints ” a deeply concerning portrait of how Surrey police firearms licensing operated at he time”. John Crabb was sacked following a hearing , whilst Stuart Royle retired before a hearing was held

TRAINING

The price watchdog also concluded that the force’ s firearm licensing team lacked training and was “staffed by people failing to do their job properly”.

The overall finding heaps huge shame on Surrey police, who are guilty of misconduct when they should be dealing with individuals guilty of misconduct.
