Increase In U.S Graduation Parties Influenced Spike In Covid-19 Cases

By Dominic Taylor-

An increase in graduation parties,  mixed public messaging, higher risk tolerance has been attributed to the spike in cases in the U.S which is increasingly engulfing the young because of a wide spread attitude of negligence in the country.”

Social distancing was rarely observed in graduation parties that followed the easing of the lockdown in many states, according to the testimonies of students who attended them. The longing to celebrate their big day temporarily ruined by the lockdown manifested itself in hugs among close friends who decided for themselves whether to observe social distancing or not.

Most graduates have waited for this moment to be honoured for their hardwork and investment into their studies, and were not about to allow it spoil their graduation.

This thinking was translated to a violation of social distancing rules, designed to keep every American safe and help the country beat the virus  as quickly as possible. It is the same guideline given everywhere else in the world that has experienced the virus. Some pupils did observe social distancing at various graduation parties, but only a handful implemented it with everyone present at the party.

The fear of future consequences through say contact tracing prevented any students from wanting to identify openly with such parties, but one student from The University of Arizona, told The Eye Of Media.Com : ” People can’t really expect people not to relax ad have fun at their graduation party. I mean we have waited like years for this, ofcourse we gonna hug one another.

Graduation parties happen once in a life time, people are not going to turn up to graduation parties and be like robots. The benefit of the social distancing rule was that if the girls didn’t want to hug a guy, then when would use social distancing as covid-19 as an excuse”.

Record Levels

Covid-19 cases have continued to soar at record levels across the U.S, which now has over 2.6m cases, with younger people now comprising growing numbers of victims. On Friday, vice-president Mike Pence said half of new cases in the US in recent weeks were adults under 35.

Calls for precautionary measures have continued, with doctors leading the warnings for extra vigilance after observing an alarming rise in deaths among the young.  The lockdown easing in many states sparked a concentration of gatherings, from graduation parties to ordinary celebrations of the easing. Pub gatherings and  congregations at beaches have all been contributing factors to the recent spike in serious Covid-19 cases

Health experts in hotspot states are warning of an impending danger if young people do not heed the disastrous signs of continued complacency. A complete shut down would be the automatic consequence if hospitals reach capacity

A doctor spoken to by Newyork freelance journalist, Miranda Bryant, told the U.S Guardian that over 50% of Arizona’s almost 80,000 cases reportedly falls under the 20-44-year-old age bracket.  Dr. Quinn Synder said that night clubs and pubs closed  as part of Republican governor Doug Ducey’s “pause” of reopening in an attempt to stop the spread ,are the “primary reservoir” for the disease.

“The truth is that if we are going to contain this pandemic, if we are going to prevent our hospitals from overflowing, it’s absolutely critical that people in the 20-44-year-old age group take much more precautions than they currently are taking and stay at home.”

An abundant number of Americans have grown tired of the stay at home orders during the peak of the coronavirus, but concern for the health and safety of the nation is overriding view in many parts of the U.S, where people simply don’t want to die as a result of an infection brought on extraneously.

The hot summer is normally a time for pleasure and liberty, but the current rate of infections in several states changes all that. The ability to have fun and enjoy pleasure is lost in the face of  loss of life and danger to life.
