Virtually all heroin addicts regret ever starting heroine in the first place.
An extensive interview of over hundred heroin addicts in London and Essex, admit regretting ever starting the drug. Addicts in Leytonstone, Upton Park, Basildon and Southend On Sea, have all admitted they wish they never started the drug.
A number of our writers and researchers questionned addicts in these four partsof the country, and they all admitted they wish they never started the drug. Heroine addicts crave the drug so bad that they claim to get ill without it. Some throw up . feel restless, or feel like they will die, if they don’t get the drug. They will do anything to get it, even if it means stealing, robbing their friends, or prostituting, our investigation shows. The addiction is so bad that many addicts go as far as injecting heroine into their legs, and even the groins of their private part, leaving nasty holes that scar their legs.
The eye of emdia.com learned that some have even had to have their legs amputated because of the lethal effect of the drug over time. Heroin addicts can take methodone to try and beat the craving for heroine. ”I hate my life, the fact I am hooked on this nasty drug, one heroine addict told the eye of media.com. I sometimes feel like killing myself, but just hold back on the thought. I am fed up of this lifestyle”, the 34 year old addict from Leytonstone told the eye of media.com. It is just a vicious cycle, one I can’t stand. I wish I never started in the first place”.
The woman, who we can’t name, has lost three of her children to social services because of her addiction. ”I wish I could see my kids again, but I know that won’t happen”, she said. Her response was mirrored by a number of addicts in other areas. 46 of the 107 addicts we spoke to(about 43%) admitted to losing their kids over their heroine addiction. Lots of heroine addicts have sleepless nights, sometimes for days, before trying to make up for it by having lots of sleep on particular days.
57 of the 107 addicts we spoke to(about 52%) admitted to robbing their members of their families out of desperation to obtain heroine. Scum bags they are, if they can rob their own families, but this is how serious the addiction can be. It wreckes lives! ”I have robbed my mum, sisters, sister’s boyfriend”, said one 27 year old heroine addict from Upton Park, who said she was now ashamed of herself. ”I just have not been able to help it. There are times I feel so ill that I have to get the nearest thing I can get my hands on and sell. I once robbed my sisters televisions set when she was in bed having sleeping. ” I got my heroin addict boyfriend to give me a hand and drive it to the pawn shop. I did give it back though, I just needed to pawn it to get some money”.
Addicts in Southend and Basildon practically told the same story. They spend all their income on heroin, and steal anything to get it. Some prostitutes have more morals, and sell their bodies as much as they can to finance their heroin addict. ”I don’t rob anyone to support my habit”, one 28 year old heroine addict from Southend told the eye of media.com. I work hard to earm my money and support my own habit. I don’t have a man, don’t rely on any man for my money. I used them just for sex and oral sex.
”They may think they are using me, but I am using them because there is no feleings, no love involved. They are having sexual contact with a woman who does it for a job withy hundreds of other men, and they are paying for it. They fund my habit” she said. I charge different customers different prices, the more expensive the car they drive they more they have to pay for different sex acts”, she said. ” I admit it is a horrible life, I wish I never started it. I’ve had to have sex with sweaty smelly men, but it’s all about the money. It’s money upfront with me, but there have been times I have tried to run with a man’s money, then get chased. I have got away most times, sometimes, I have been caught and beaten up”. On those occassions I ran, it was because I had been robbed not long before.”
Her 26 year old friend from Basildon told the eye of media.com ” It’s a jungle out here. I have had to con men to earn my money in the past. Apart from being a working girl, I sometimes date men with money and find an excuse to get up to a £100 from them. Sometimes, I wait until they are not looking, then rob their bank card, or stash of money if I see it. I’ve stolen from family members when they were not aware. It’s a nasty life”.
