Melania Trump has formally entered the entertainment world with the creation of a new film production company, Muse Films. She announced the company’s founding via a brief post on social media late November 2025, accompanied by a short logo reel. The debut project under this banner is a feature-length documentary titled MELANIA, slated for theatrical release on January 30, 2026, before streaming on a major platform.
The documentary promises an intimate look at her life during a high-profile transition: the 20 days leading up to the 2025 presidential inauguration of her husband, Donald Trump. According to the film’s promotional logline, it aims to show her navigating the logistics and pressures of moving back into public life and settling into her role as First Lady once again.
The wife of a very strong and polarising president of the United States, Melanie Trump is out to drop bombshells in her accomplishments. She wasn’t wish to be in the shadows of her husband, whilst also maximising the power behind her name as first lady of America. Relatively quiet in the background of an ever historic story of a president whose political career has ever been full of drama, Melanie continues to carve a bigger and future for herself.
Born Melanija Knavs in what is now Slovenia, she moved to New York in the late 1990s to pursue a modelling career under the name Melania Knauss. She worked across Europe and the United States, even appearing in the iconic sports-swimsuit edition for a major magazine in 2000. Her career path changed dramatically when she met Donald Trump at a fashion-industry event in 1998. The couple married in January 2005.
She attended the University of Ljubljana for one year before leaving to pursue a career in modeling. She found success, first in Slovenia and later—under the name Melania Knauss—in Milan and Paris. In 1996 she was brought to New York by Paolo Zampolli’s modeling agency. In the course of her career she appeared on the covers of several magazines, and in 2000 she modeled for Sports Illustrated’s popular swimsuit edition.
Over the years, she branched out into business ventures beyond modelling notably launching a jewellery line and a skincare brand infused with caviar extract. Though she described herself as meticulous and hands-on in building these businesses, some efforts achieved only limited success.
Recent years have seen her re-emerge publicly, especially after her husband’s return to the presidency in 2024. In 2025 she took on more ceremonial and public-facing roles, stepping back into life in the White House and garnering substantial media attention. Her launching of Muse Films marks her first major public venture that combines her personal narrative with media and storytelling.
Why Muse Films and What It Signals
The choice of the name “Muse Films” seems intentionally symbolic. “Muse” was reportedly her Secret Service codename during her husband’s first presidency a nod to her past and a signal she is positioning herself as not just a figure in politics, but a brand and storyteller in her own right.
The timing of the launch suggests that MELANIA is central to Muse Films’ immediate ambitions. The documentary is reportedly backed by a substantial $40 million licensing deal with Amazon MGM Studios, indicating strong commercial expectations and significant resources behind the project. In addition to the film, there are reports of a companion multi-episode docuseries being developed offering further insight into her life across different settings, from New York to Washington DC and Palm Beach.

First Lady’s ‘Muse Films’ production
Melania herself has described the project as a chance to tell her story. the moments behind closed doors that rarely reach public view, the work that goes into White House transitions, and her dual roles as mother and First Lady.
This new venture is arguably her most significant public endeavour since releasing her 2024 memoir. Previously, her business efforts beyond modelling were more modest and sometimes struggled. The scale and visibility of Muse Films suggest a rebranding attempting to recast Melania not only as a former model or First Lady, but as a media figure and producer in her own right.
Importantly, she has taken on the role of executive producer for the documentary, granting her a degree of creative control and influence over how the story of her public and private life will be framed. While Melania remains the First Lady a role defined by ceremonial duties, public appearances, and soft-power influence Muse Films represents a distinct shift. This project blurs the lines between political life and entertainment, raising questions about how a sitting First Lady can simultaneously wield institutional visibility and personal entrepreneurial ambitions.
Some critics have already raised concerns about potential conflicts of interest, given the scale of the Amazon deal and the political prominence of the First Family.
Others argue that the move may reflect broader ambitions beyond mere legacy. With control over a production company and media output, Melania could shape her public image, influence storytelling around her family, and potentially establish a long-term brand independent of official office.
The name Muse Films, the carefully curated launch and the high-stakes documentary deal all point toward a calculated repositioning. Some have speculated whether this is just the beginning. Muse Films might not remain a one-off vehicle for a personal documentary: the name, the structure, and the initial support suggest ambitions for more content perhaps around themes of family, politics, lifestyle, or even international perspectives though nothing has been announced yet beyond MELANIA.
At the same time, her role in the Trump administration remains formal and public-facing. As First Lady, she engages in ceremonial and social initiatives, and with the documentary she is offering a rare behind-the-scenes look at what often remains invisible.
This blending of public role and private enterprise underscores how modern political lives especially among the globally visible increasingly straddle governance, media, and personal branding.
Whether Muse Films will become a lasting entity or fade after its first big splash remains to be seen. What is clear already is that Melania Trump is attempting to chart a new path: from the world of runway and real estate to boardroom cameras, investor deals, and global streaming platforms.
