By Lucy Caulkett-

A pensioner  found guilty of sexually abusing girls as young as four, offended 23 years.83 year old Sazzad Miah was found guilty of five counts of indecent assault, two counts of indecency with a child, four counts of rape, two counts of rape of a child under 13, four counts of sexual assault of a child under 13 and one count of sexual activity with a child. Miah denied the offences, but a 16 day trial found him guilty.

Miah thought he had escaped the offences until police were informed about them. The grand paedo was arrested in October 2017 after police received information about the abuse. Cambridge Crown Court heard how he abused one girl over a period of 12 years between 1992 and 2004, and another over eight years between 2004 and 2012.  Among the shocking details heard by the court was fact that two of the girls were as young as four, another was five years old and another was 10.

PUNISHMENT

Sexual offenders often continue life in the misguided belief their crimes have gone undetected. Only when they are caught and brought to justice, do the grim reality and impact of their offences hit home.

Too often, they don’t always get the right sentencing, but they are often eventually apprehended and exposed for their terrible crimes. An old man of 83 should be enjoying his retirement age and reflecting on a successful life, if at all they have lived such lives. Instead, some old people like Miah are taking back to their past to pay for the ordeals they have subjected others to.Miah will be sentenced at a later date, and we must hope he doesn’t receive a mild sentence after committing the horrible crimes he has committed.

Detective Andrea Warren said in a statement:

“The victims in this investigation have been extremely courageous and I am pleased that they were able to disclose the horrific abuse they have suffered at the hands of Miah. “Child abuse is totally unacceptable and we will support victims of such crimes and work tirelessly to bring the offender to justice.”
