Staff at a German laboratory firm accused of carrying out cruel experiments on animals have admitted they were told to falsify the tests – making them pointless.
Former employees of the Laboratory of Pharmacology and Toxicology (LPT) at two sites in northern Germany have alleged that managers told them to alter data, modify dose,s and replace dead animals with live ones without informing the company’s clients. The claim is a blow to the company and cam also cast doubts on the legitimacy of lots of all unrelated research involving testing. The only object of the falsification would have been to further their ideology on the matter under experiment through testing.
Miriam Staudte, a Green politician from Hamburg, said the allegations call into question ‘all studies by this operator’. The Hamburg Consumer Protection Authority has called on politicians to suspend all animal testing licences to LPT while an investigation takes place.
The scandal around LPT was laid bare after another ex-employee captured horrifying pictures and footage of testing which were horrifying. Footage obtained by an undercover worker as part of the joint operation was horrifying in its depiction of beagles having pipes forced down their throats and being given capsules, leaving them bleeding and in utter agony.
The footage showed defenceless monkeys screaming in pain, as metal devices were placed around their necks to restrain them whilst various tests were conducted on them.
The harrowing abuse was discovered by animal activist organisation Soko Tierschutz, and Cruelty Free International, uncovered the harrowing abuse which included animals being left bleeding and dying following the gruesome testing.Some of the monkeys were isolated in metal cages measuring less than a cubic metre. They were also spinning in circles, an expression of extreme distress. A number of dogs were left trapped in their own blood and faeces, as staff showed no regard for their well being, all in the name of a fake expoeriment.
