Donald Trump’s former casino in Atlantic City was today demolished, after years of decay.

On Wednesday the former Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, was reduced to rubbles in 20 seconds by 3,000 sticks of dynamite. It had fallen into  disrepair after years of deterioration that chunks of the building had been tumbling to the ground.

Thousands of people tuned into a livestream to see the one-time jewel of Mr Trump’s casino empire get torn down.

The former president built the casino, now owned by billionaire Carl Icah, who acquired the two remaining Trump casinos in 2016 from the last of their bankruptcies.

There were cheers from a viewing observers who had paid $10 to watch from their cars. Some filmed the demolishment on their mobile phones.

‘This is the fitting end of Trump’s era,’ Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small stated, as he condemned  the former President ‘stiffed a lot of people and was selfish.’

The building imploded at around 9am with a series of explosions.

The casino which  opened in 1984, hosted parties for multiple Hollywood actors, rock stars and sportspeople. But after a string of bankruptcy filings, the New York property tycoon and reality TV host cut ties with it in 2009.

By the time it finally closed its doors in 2014, Trump Plaza was the worst-performing casino in Atlantic City,  loosing a lot of money in revenues as a result.  The  Atlantic City as proof of his business acumen.

Bernie Dillon, who served as the casino’s event manager from 1984 to 1991, said: “The way we put Trump Plaza and the city of Atlantic City on the map for the whole world was really incredible.

“Everyone from Hulk Hogan to Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, it was the whole gamut of personalities. One night before a Tyson fight I stopped dead in my tracks and looked about four rows in as the place was filling up, and there were two guys leaning in close and having a private conversation: Jack Nicholson and Warren Beatty.

“It was like that a lot: You had Madonna and Sean Penn walking in, Barbra Streisand and Don Johnson, Muhammad Ali would be there, Oprah sitting with Donald ringside.”
