Floyd Mayweather To Work With Anthony Joshua For Fury Fight

By Tim Parsons-

Unbeaten former  world champion, Floyd Mayweather, will work with  world heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua, ahead of his multi-million mega-fight with Tyson Fury.

Mayweather was ringside last December to watch Joshua retain his heavyweight world titles , when the brit knocked out Kubrat Pulev in 7 rounds.  The victory did not impress Tyson Fury, who accused Joshua of being negative in his two come back fights since his defeat to Andy Ruiz, and for lacking confidence in his ability.

The unbeaten WBC champion has said he will comfortably beat Joshua with two hands behind his back.

The news of Mayweather’s plans to work with  Anthony Joshua comes as Joshua and Fury finally signed their proposed mega million undisputed fight.

“I look forward to working with Joshua real soon, we talk all the time,” he told the Disruptive Entrepreneur podcast .

“It’s a very interesting fight. Anthony Joshua has a lot of experience and Tyson Fury as well has a lot of experience but with Anthony Joshua losing a fight [to Andy Ruiz Jr], it helped him become stronger.

“I met Tyson Fury on a few occasions; he’s great guy and very interesting. After the fight I like to see him sing… I haven’t seen him fight a lot of times.

“I’ve seen him fight twice, against Deontay Wilder, but it’s a very intriguing match-up. You can never say what’s going to happen in the sport of boxing. Both guys are great competitors. “On Monday, promoter Eddie Hearn announced Joshua and Fury have signed a deal for two bouts.

World heavyweight champion: Anthony Joshua

Hearn told ESPN that a venue for the fights, in which Joshua’s WBA, IBF and WBO titles and Fury’s WBC belt will be on the line, is set to be confirmed “within the next month”.

Confirming the deal, Hearn said: “The hard part is always getting everybody to put pen to paper.

“But this was a major effort from all parties to get this over the line. You had rival promoters, rival networks and rival fighters.

Joshua has lost once in 25 fights(23Ko’s) to Andy Ruiz Jnr, while Fury is unbeaten in 31 fights (21 Ko’s).

Joshua is the more powerful of the two men, but Fury is widely seen as the man with more  mobility and variety.

The gypsy king has also adopted a more aggressive style than earlier on in his career, and is building his power too, as shown in the way he battered former WBC champion, Deontey Wilder in February 2020.

He will be favourite to win, but it won’t be in Fury’s favour that he would not have boxed for  about 18 months by the time he meets Joshua. Fury really should be having a warm up fight before meeting Joshua, but the big bucks to be made from the fight has contributed to Fury’s handlers not taking a risk in putting their man out there with competent heavyweight before their big fight.

Exact dates and venues for the fight is yet to be set, but both camps are understood to be targeting June or July for the big fight.
