English Fans On A High In Preparation For Croatia World Cup Semi

By Tim Parsons-

English fans are on a high after England beat Sweden 2-0 on Saturday, paving the way for a dramatic semi finals against Croatia, who beat Russia on penalties.

This is England’s first semi finals since 1990,  making it a record achievement so far.  Yet, England need the win  to keep the dream alive of winning the world cup for the first time since 1966.  Not many people can really say they expected England to get this far, but now many English fans are actually dreaming of the real possibility that England will win the world cup this year.

On paper, this is a very realistic possibility, because  England has  one of its best ever teams, and also probably the best team in this year’s world cup. Croatia have a few talented players  like Luka Modric and Ivan Rakitic, but England  that’s not enough to cause England much concern.  It will not be an easy game, but England can beat Croatia if they stay on form. English players will be in very high spirits after their victories so far, but they must not be complacent, if they want to do their country proud.

Celebrations by English fans in the Uk and in Russia have been very wide, though news that some fans resort to damaging vehicles has been very disappointing. Fans damaged the bonnet of a medical response vehicle in London and smashed the windscreen and a wing mirror. This was unnecessary hooligan behaviour that led to police calling for those involved to be identified for prosecution. World cup victories are  very enjoyable moments for rejoicing, ruined when hooligans decide to ruin the fun of others by damaging properties as an expression of their joy.

The match against Croatia will be full of expectation as both teams will fight for a position in the finals.  Almost 90 % of English fans spoken to by The Eye Of Media.Com believe England will beat Croatia on Wednesday. 43 out of 50 English fans spoken to said they believed England will  beat Croatia on Wednesday, with 36 of those 43 saying they believed England would then go on to win the world cup. We have heard it all before, but this time, the chances are quite high that it will happen.
