Energy suppliers Ovo have stripped Rogue landlord, Robert Crow of his electricity supply over a £2,000 bill.
Crow, a widely despised landlord has been in darkness for the past 6 weeks , The Eye Of Media.Com has learned. The energy suppliers set in when they discovered his electric supply was illegally being maintained. His metres were taken out and he was left in darkness. Mr Crow had his electric wired up and taken off the grid. been in a long and drawn out battle with Southend Council after they successfully took him to court for breaching HMO regulations in 2016.
He was fined £40,000, with an extra £44,000 added to that after a separate conviction at Basildon Crown Court in 2018. Crow appealed the conviction but lost. He has an outstanding hearing from breaching a CBO order which has been moved to February 2019. The 70 year old landlord now lives in the property in Southend Essex with no lights at all.
All his former residents at the property, bar three, have left the property. Mr Crow said:
” I am depressed. This is awful, and what the council wanted. I have to use a torch to move from one part of the property to another. I can’t even make a cup of tea in my own home. I think this is bad. All I have ever tried to do is help people”
A resident at mr.Crow’s property said: ”It is terrible in here. The rats are bigger and more in number. They race from one corner of the property to another, I’m sure they are breeding here. They might as well be for sale. The man may not be perfect, but he deserves to have some light, doesn’t he”?
Mr Crow has already had one of his flats taken from him due to mounting debts and his inability to maintain the mortgage, and has another one or two waiting to be taken from him. He has declined all advice to sell the rest of his property and save some face in the midst of his legal troubles. He has accused the Council of running a campaign against him.
Last June, his childhood friend, John Brait was convicted of racism and threatening behaviour against one of Mr. Crow’s neighbour. A neighbour said: ”I think most people here are glad at his situation. We no longer see him standing outside his door being antagonising. It’s only a matter of time before he is gone. Another neighbour said: I can’t wait to see the back of him. My cats always bring in the rats from his back garden. He is a horrible disgusting man”.
