Dodgy Landlords Fear Bad Publicity

By  Gavin Mackintosh-

Dodgy landlords fear bad publicity. After complaints from disgruntled readers who read our site, we can. reveal that all five landlords we confronted with the complaints of their tenants were prompt in addressing the structural defects in their property.

Readers from North.London, East London and North England, contacted us to complain about stubborn landlords who ignore continuous requests to fix damaged parts of the home. Many complainants say their  landlords promise to do something, but never do anything about their problem.

The eye of media.com received very different responses when we confronted our first fiveassigsnts by phone and mail.  Each of the five landlords addressed the problem within 72hours, some addressing it quicker than thatwithin 48 hours.
The troubling questions why it should take the prospect of being exposed for professionals to behave as they should. Landlords seem to believe they can treat their tenants as they please without any fear of consequence despite the high rent they generally charge.

Louise Hall from Enfield, complained that she had spent the best part.of the last three months trying to get her landlord to fix the.cold. shower in her home, but he never responded. After the eye of media called the landlord and questioned him  about the matter, he was apologetic and promised to address it immediately.

He instructed  work men to fix the shower  within.two days and  accepted our suggestion to give her a £50 compensation for the inexcusable delay. Four other landlords from  a combination of East London and North England were also similarly co-operative with our intervention.

They all agreed to fix the problems complained of and offer a compensatory fee to their tenants to avoid being named and shamed. This was despite the fact we did not even have a  picture for a single onekc them, although we would’ve been prepared to hang around their residence of abode until we got one , if necessary.

Landlords should have professional standards and also a conscuence. Many  landlords seem content with collecting their rent and leaving the properties they rent out in an unacceptable state for their clients to live in, whilst still  sometimes charging ridiculous rents.
