Detectives Seek Witnesses Following Goodmayes Stabbing Of Station Staff

By Ashley Young-

Detectives are appealing for witnesses following a stabbing of station staff at Goodmayes.

Two teenagers  were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, following an ‘altercation’ with station staff members, British Transport Police said.

One of the victims, in his 30s, sustained a stab wound and a cut to the head after he was struck with a bottle.

The second victim was stabbed under his arm. They are both receiving treatment in hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Stabbings in the Goodmayes area are not very common, nut neither are they rare. There were a few stabbings in the area in 2023.

There were a total of 660 street level crime incidents in Goodmayes in June 2023, most of which were related to violent crime, followed by Anti Social Behaviour.

The station was closed by forensic teams but was reopened in the early hours of this morning.

Siwan Hayward, Director of Security, Policing and Enforcement at TfL, said: “This was an appalling and dangerous attack on our colleagues, who remain in hospital.

“Everyone should be able to go about their day without fear or intimidation and we do not tolerate any violence, aggression or threatening behaviour towards railway staff or customers.

“We are working closely with the British Transport Police and MTR, the operator of the Elizabeth line.
