UNBEATEN

Wilder remains unbeaten in 42 fights, with one draw to Britain’s gypsy king Tyson Fury in December 2018. He was heavily criticised in many quarters for allowing Fury who had been out of the ring for 3 years to appear to out think him for most of the fight before he was sensationally dropped twice.

However, Wilder who gave away 3 stones to a mobile and awkward technician like Fury has always possessed phenomenal power in his right hand, making him dangerous in every fight until the last bell goes.

The Alabama  powerhouse has since added about a stone of muscles, making him potentially lethal in the ring. Last May, he obliterated his opponent, Dominic Brezeale (22-2) 15 (Ko’s)in one devastating round in their grudge match.  In contrast, Brezeale lasted  7 rounds against Britain’s Anthony Joshua in 2016.

Confident Wilder has taken the major risk of facing 41 year old Luis Ortiz(31-1) (26 KO’s) in a rematch set for November 23 where he plans to demonstrate his phenomenal power once again.

Except that this time, Ortiz who nearly stopped Wilder in the seventh round of the only he fight in which the tough Cuban heavyweight has registered a defeat, has had more time to prepare and poses a danger to Wilder’s title. The Alabama hard hitter is favourite to retain his belt, though it is not a given until the pair actually square up.

Ortiz has ideas of his own and will be coming to win. Wilder faces Tyson Fury unbeaten in a rematch in February 2020, provided he takes care of Ortiz next month.
