Demonstration For Cannabis in Germany massive turnout

By Charlotte Webster-

A  massive demonstration in Germany calling for the legalisation of Cannabis for medical purposes, has taken place today.

The demonstration started from the central railway station then extended to the Alexanderplatz.

Demonstrators were calling for cannabis to be legalized, saying that it’s criminalization is illogical and it’s time for the widely smoked drug to be made legal.

Over 4,000 people are reported to have turned up for the demonstration, which organizers orchestrated to have full force on the government.

“Legalization is in the air” was the slogan used to make an impact on the city.  They turned up in.numbers foe this.

Cannabis is illegal in both Germany and UK, but campaigners for its decriminalization have been gathering pace in their drive to make it legal.

The movement for this demonstration has been.going on for 20 years, since its.formation in 1997. One protester had a banner that read “not your brain, my brain”.

A number of protesters at the rally secretly lit up joints and smoked it in the air, taking a gamble of evading detection.

“When you compare  cannabis with cigarettes and alcohol, you find that both cigarettes and alcohol are worse for you, one protester told th e eye of media.com.

Cannabis is actually safer for you than cigarettes or alcohol. Alcohol is a poison, with no benefits apart from being drunk, he said With cannabis, it has uncontested medical benefits”.

Cannabis supporters have always stated there is a hypocrisy in keeping cigarettes and alcohol legal, whilst criminalizing cannabis.

That may well be true, but there should be no.mistake that the official position of scientists remains that cannabis still pose health risks, depletes a big part of the long term memory,   contributes to schizophrenia, and can cause cancer.

A cry for its legalization  based on its.medical benefits and unfair criminalization, should be balanced with the knowledge of its potential health hazards. All the facts must be taken together.
