DAVID HAYE DONATES 100,000 TO BLACKWELL

BY TIM PARSONS

Big hearted David haye has contributed 100,000 pounds to boxer, Nick Blackwell.

The former WBA champion kept his promise to give 10 percent of his last pay check against Arnold Gjergjaj, to Blackwell. Haye earned 1 m pounds when after quick two round destruction of Arnold Gjergjaj.
Blackwell suffered a bleeding to the brain, forcing him into an induced Coma when defeated by Chris Eubank junior.

He eventually made a full recovery, but will never fight again. Haye’s donation of 100,000 pounds will go a long way to helping Blackwell recover from the psychological damage that no doubt comes with the tragic incidence.

Haye was criticized by a number of people for his choice of opponent. His strongest critic was cruiser weight world champ, Tony Bellew, who has expressed a desire to face Haye.  Haye a former undisputed world champion he successfully made the transition to the heavyweight division, won the WBA heavyweight title in 2008 when he beat Nicolai Valuev. A concussive puncher, Haye has always been a dangerous opponent for any heavyweight in the world, so Gjergjaj was never going to last long with him. After a long break away from boxing, Haye has come back looking like a real heavyweight, weighting over 16 stonnes, but still looking athletic and very fast. Gjergjaj was not in Haye’s league.
Gjergjaj, is Switzerland’s no 1 heavyweight with a previously unbeaten 29 record win. However, he looked a hopeless heavyweight in Haye’s company, when he folded up in two easy rounds.
Haye has long expressed a desire to face unbeaten knockout artist, Anthony Joshua, and is absolutely convinced he would stop him whenever the pair meet.
Haye next meets veteran big puncher, Shandon Brings, in September.
